Q&A with Marisa Tomei. Moderated by Richard Ridge, Broadway World.
Marisa Tomei continues to bridge the gap between rich, dramatic performances and smart, comedic turns. Whether working with large studios or independent houses, Marisa consistently brings her independent spirit to every project with which she is involved. Marisa won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinny. Tomei subsequently earned Academy Awards nominations for her performances in In the Bedroom and The Wrestler.
Marisa can currently be seen as Pony Jones in the Broadway production of Will Eno's The Realistic Joneses at the Lyceum Theatre. Directed by Sam Gold and also starring Toni Collette, Michael C. Hall and Tracy Letts, the play details the lives of two suburban couples who share more than just a surname. The show explores how our joys and sorrows -- and how we choose to face them -- can come to define our lives.

What an absolutely beautiful, grounded, real, talented, genuine and adorable woman Marisa Tomei is. She laughs and giggles so easily and freely, she just seems like a really wonderful and lovely human being.

She actually doesn't have one... her mother, who's an English teacher, constantly corrected her when she was a child so she wouldn't get one. But I get what you mean, you're referring to My Cousin Vinny for which she put on that accent... and that's why she's a great actress.

She's trying to be diplomatic about not liking "The Wrestler" and finding work with Mickey Rourke to be a chore (a common sentiment).

Though very accomplished in Hollywood more so than she will ever admit, I wonder if Marisa has experienced the same issue that Charlize Theron expressed, which was basically boils down to - just too fuckin' hot for most roles?

Alec Baldwin said it best: "Do you wanna be an actor or do you wanna be a famous actor. If you wanna be a famous actor than part of me feels sorry for you cause you're not gonna get to do that much acting."
