video summary in case you’re in a rush before your shower 🥴: - style with your hair very wet: when your hair has frizz it needs more moisture, normal water adds moisture on top of products. your hair will stay in clumps and stick together better. - which products you use: very moisturising product (good leave in or good curl cream: medium hold), gel to hold the curls a lot better. for more definition don’t use mousse, gel provides more hold along with leave in. - after products distributed use a styling brush (most like to use denman brush but don’t need to!!). helps to even out product and clump the curls together. - after brushing with style brush you can finger coil (brush through hair once and twirl hair into a little twist sort of like a tornado). don’t have to do it to all since it takes a long time, you can do it on the most visible parts or most frizzy. go with your natural hair pattern, how to find out what that is, is by scrunching and see the way it rotates and finger coil that way. e.g inwards or outwards. - do NOT use a regular bath towel to dry your hair since the little hooks and stick up parts tend to get caught on curly hair. instead use a micro fibre towel or a cotton t-shirt. - using the t-shirt/towel scrunch up, but gentle don’t fully curve your hands over you hair and possibly disturb the curly pattern. you can use both hands and really encourage curl. don’t scrunch it dry. - use a diffuser (be careful about the heat and wind settings, much better when lower but it’s ok if it’s taking to long). when diffusing make sure not to be super aggressive and scrunch. dry away from your head first and just move the diffuser around to help lock in the curls. then go in to the roots once 85% dry and do this until 95% dry. don’t touch your hair while doing this and separate curls. - if you feel like your hairs crunchy then, you can leave this if you don’t mind, but you can scrunch out the crunch (lol) but DONT pull apart the curls. - make sure you get your split ends trimmed regularly (sooner or later depending on hair health) this can make you hair look a lot less healthy. when your curls stop holding definition at the end. lmk if you watched the video and i missed anything (i don’t think i did). stay curly. 😽

I'm so glad this video ended up on my feed. My hair seems very similar to yours...I think! I just started my natural curly hair journey this summer. My curl type is 2b/2c/3a. I have long, thick hair and used to have LOTS of it. I'm talking like Cousin It lots of it. Lol. But I was diagnosed with Grave's disease last year and since then, about half of it has fallen out. Weirdly enough, for most people, now I look like I have a normal amount of hair. That's my silver lining :) Anyway, I appreciate the way you're demonstrating your tips and tricks. Unlike a lot of other hair care KZbinrs, you not only show what you do, but explain why you do it! That makes a big difference!

1. Style with wet hair 2. Rake leave-in-conditioner/curl cream and gel into hair (to hydrate and hold) 3. Use a styling brush to distribute product if desired 4. Finger coil to face frame and some pieces in the middle for definition (with the curl pattern) 5. Use a microfiber towel or t-shirt instead of a regular towel to prevent frizz 6. Use a t-shirt to scrunch lightly 7. Diffuse on low setting not touching the hair with your hands 8. Scrunch out the crunch 9. Get trims regularly

hi! Does you hair have any heat or color damage that youre transitioning from? there could be a lot of reasons for this so if you can tell me about your hair condition I can try to help!
@janneke23154 жыл бұрын
@@marissa_lanae hi Marissa! No I have no heat or color damage. It is just hard to watch other girls with perfect curls but whatever I do it just won't work. It is really weird actually! It gets dry and frizzy very easy and it will 'stick together' at the roots. I always use a light hair spray, a leave in cream and I seal it with a gel. All natural products, no sulfates or anything. I have no protein overload, actually a great balance between moisture and protein. My hair is very easy weight down, so too much moisture sucks the life out of my hair hahah. Thank you very much for wanting to answer my question!
@lrenm88714 жыл бұрын
Do you live in humid climate? It might be the ingredients in your products. If you live in a warm or humid climate, you’ll be more prone to frizzy hair if the products you finish your styling with are high in humectants since they suck in the moisture from the air and cause the hair strands to swell, thus becoming frizzy. Humectants are ingredients like glycerin, honey, sodium lactate, propylene glycol, and others. Humectants aren’t necessarily bad. If you have dry hair then you’ll probably benefit from having humectants in your products since they’ll draw moisture in from your environment. But too much moisture if it’s already very humid outside can just cause frizz. Try to find products with emollients (sealing ingredients that keep moisture locked in) like Shea butter or oils like jojoba or castor (castor is pretty heavy so I wouldn’t use it unless you have thick or coarse hair)

Thanks for such a helpful video! I accidentally deleted my previous comment before realizing you replied! I just saw your response via email in which you said you brush beneath the hair, instead of above it, because it gives you volume. I have one more question... You mentioned you don't use oil because it weighs down the curls. However, you said that you do use oil to "refresh". What do you mean by "refresh"? Lastly, with your help I diffused my curls for the first time and they are soooo beautiful!!! I finally have voluminous, shiny, and frizz-free curls. I wish I could send you flowers! I found myself applying more products in-between drying because frizz began to form so maybe all add more initially next time. Now, I also understand why you initially worked in sections. My hair was falling flat at the crown because I just brushed it all together. However during the last 5-10% of drying, I lifted my roots with the diffuser as you suggested, scrunched, and finger-coiled by the crown as well. That did the trick! 💕
@marissa_lanae4 жыл бұрын
Hi Robin! So I meant I only use an oil when I refresh so only on day 2 or 3 when I just need to go over my hair again but I dont need to completely redo it :) Im so glad you found these tips helpful!! That makes me want to keep creating these kinds of videos!

I color my hair every four to five weeks at a salon just for curlies. The next time I wash I use olaplex 3, and I deep condition my hair every single week for 30 minutes. I don't have any problems from coloring. I did ask about bleaching though, and my stylist said that would be hell on my curl pattern, so I've left that alone.

I wear my hair in a pineapple to sleep, I have a silk pillow case too to prevent frizz! I do have to refresh a tiny bit in the morning and ill only wet and reshape the curls that look a little weird!

Thank you so much!! I’ve been lost for the longest time and I’m so happy that I’ve found your videos x what are some ways you would tie or wear your hair?

I either just throw it up in a high pony, wear it halfway up, or have it in a bun. I dont have a ton of other styles lol
