Marius I always enjoy your reviews because they give a youthful and general perspective without nitpicking unnecessary details that have no real value in real life conditions, I mean how hard was winding down windows, using a key to enter or manually adjusting your seat, perspective is required!

In 2016 i bought a brand new Porsche GTS Macan. Beautiful car. In 2019 i also bought a top of the range Amerok. I used to get out of the Macan and into the Amerok and wonder where the $80,000 difference was. Eventually in 2019 i sold the Macan and haven’t looked back. Ive had some engine issues with the Amerok but were all fixed under warranty. It does continue to have gremlins which the Macan never did experience. I am looking forward to the new Amerok when released as it will be on my radar.

I have a 2020 Amarok and it’s the most amazing vehicle I have ever driven. I did a few modifications to suite outback Australian but it’s just an incredible vehicle all around. It going to be a sad day when Ford try to make something with the high standard as a VW. Paul Australia.

Hey Paul Have had a good few chats with the VW team here in South Africa and they assure me that a vehicle won't roll off the production line if it doesn't meet with their standards so it could be a big benefit for Ford on the build quality front. What is puzzling is that they not even sharing engines - Ford could use their brilliant 3.0l V6 instead of developing their own which is apparently what's going to happen. Guess we'll all have to wait and see... Thanks for your message... Marius

@@MariusRobertsProductions great that they showing separation. The Nissan navarra x class merge was a disaster...Volkswagen wont allow it ..different engines is good news. Edit...Volkswagen are not using their own engine in the new model?

Good work Marius! I always remember you saying what's the deal with hard plastics, since you don't sit pressing the dash everyday. Brings me to the Navara, much hated as it is. The facelift still has hard plastics (according to Aussie tester), but Amarok is forgiven for it. No rear vents, Amarok, you're forgiven and so the list goes on. Then price.....eyewatering..!!! Eish!! Thanx for being non-biased.

Imagine the new Amarok V6 running on the Ranger Raptor’s Fox suspension and BFG AT’s straight off the assembly line. I know we’re looking at a bar plus, but still, just imagine. 🙂

Am more concerned about none of the panels lining up, the poor paint finish etc that are the standout features for me on the Ford product BUT VW have assured me the new Amarok will be built to their quality and standards

I also struggle to wrap my head around the price of that vehicle. It does not make any sense
@MariusRobertsProductions3 жыл бұрын
Well you can thank our bakkie obsessed market for that - they drive up the prices with their buying habits! I struggle with the price of ALL double cabs to be honest...

It's a shame that they're dumping this brilliant engine for Ford's V6. All the V6 Amarok needed was a proper interior, not the current Polo interior. Just some luxuries to justify that price. If they had just kept everything the way it was, with some minor improvements and a modern interior, I would buy one. But I'm not throwing that kind of money at an Amarok with a Ford engine and transmission.
@MariusRobertsProductions3 жыл бұрын
The Amarok was a real game changer and none of the Ranger / Hilux lovers want to admit that BUT all the improvements they enjoy in their current bakkies are because of the Amarok! Car like interior, ride quality and refinement, offroad ABS - even the small capacity 2.0l turbo that everyone was ripping them off about - now look! I agree re. the interior but you must remember its been unchanged for over 10 years BUT it does make swallowing the price point very tough. I was also so surprised that if they are heading down this partnership, why Ford doesnt just take VW's engine - seems crazy to develop their own - but these are business deals that are brokered with a way bigger picture in mind. For VW this is how they get traction in the US and in exchange, they provide Ford with the Caddy.

Funny you mention build quality. Amaroks are worthless 2nd hand because of ridiculous repair costs. The Ranger however sells 20x more units a month than the rok. One or two niggles on Rangers, but much better value and warrantees on them than the Amarok.
@MariusRobertsProductions3 жыл бұрын
The second hand values are only because of South Africans and their bizarre outlooks when it comes to vehicles & brands! Everything current bakkies owners love about their Hilux’s & Rangers they can thank VW for...these same consumers who were making those ‘only coke comes in 2.0l’ jokes 10 years ago are driving them with 10 speed transmission. How quickly people forget! Have a look at Triton and Navarra & their second hand values - brilliant bakkies that again are completely overlooked. So it’s less about quality & product & more about blind brand loyalty for me. As it is, I think they are all completely overpriced and shake my head daily when I see the monthly sales & the mom’s on the school run in them. I have had a bakkie for 4 month now - the Isuzu D-Max I used on my trip so I do see the value because it’s been converted into an overlanding vehicle but the cost now that the work horse has become a show pony is I can’t justify. It’s built from the ground up to carry a ton yet it very seldom does that anymore, you have this useable space at the back that is now covered in expensive canopies or lockable tops and truthfully very seldom used yet you paying more for what is essentially less. Clearly it’s a conversation I am passionate about haha

Not worth the money at all. Used to enjoy VWs but simply don't appreciate the typical European built in obsolescence. Great V6 TDI engine though, unfortunately Ford is going to make this bakkie worse. VW should have looked at partnering with Toyota, Isuzu or Mitsubishi instead.
@MariusRobertsProductions3 жыл бұрын
The partnership is about the American market, something the other brands can’t give them. Ford gets the Caddy as part of the deal... It’s still the best bakkie in terms of build & ride quality & as I said in the review, it doesn’t really matter where your loyalty lies when it comes to bakkies, you have VW & the Amarok to thank for shake up the segment 11 years ago in terms of safety, quality & driving dynamics.

@@MariusRobertsProductions so true. Great review. I drive the 2.0 biturbo 4motion. The famous 2 litre that was the joke of the town. Is now a formula other bakkie brands are leaning too.🤷🏿♂️
