Evidence of lack of prayer, is lack of Faith. It is a cycle. Help me father with my unbelief. 🙏📖🐑

I really needed this sermon. I have struggled with what if God isn't real or what if I understood the bible wrong and the rapture isnt real and Satan would use these cracks to infer that I must not be saved because I must have not had enough faith when I prayed the salvation prayer and I struggled in agony wondering how I could be sure if I was saved if these things were happening. This along with another pastor helped me overcome this. 1) take thoughts captive. If I have a thought that I know is contrary to scripture, I pray right then and there that I know this thought doesn't come from you God, please forgive me for letting it creep into my mind and help me to combat it. This wasn't working well on its own until I really internalized what not relying on your own understanding really means. Not making my brain Lord, but Jesus Lord. I also never really understood that faith and belief are a choice. When I would doubt I didn't realize I could choose to believe in spite of my doubts. Now, thanks to this sermon I get it, and I understand now that I don't rely on my understanding (lol that made 0 sense but I mean spiritual understanding vs logical understanding.)

It’s good to know that faith and unbelief co-exist in a believer’s life; thank you Pastor Paul. I’m comforted by this teaching. Love Pastor’s sermons, I discovered your channel since 2019. Listening from Malaysia❤️

Hey pastor Paul.. I just wanted to start off by saying that I really appreciate your ministry. I watch your videos often and I am grateful for your teachings. I'm not sure what bible translation you use but I use the (KJV) ... In this version, it states that the disciples couldn't cast out the demon-possessed child because it required prayer and fasting. You didn't talk about that aspect in your study, in fact, your translation doesn't even talk about the fasting piece. Do you think that the fasting part is an important aspect in this scenario? Mark 9:28 (KJV) 28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? 29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. 30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

I also use KJV as well because there are key words that are omitted or changed in other translations. But I still get a lot from Pastor Paul’s teachings😊

Wow. That IS a sobering thought, yes, that demons can ONLY kill and destroy - which is why the man's son was in such torment. I'd never thought about that before...they can't do any differently.

In KJV I noticed it also mentioned prayer and fasting.

Thank you for mentioning Hudson Taylor's ‘Spiritual Secret’. A powerful case-study. I know you’ve previously mentioned C.S. Lewis’ works before, notably, Mere Christianity. I’ve recently been recommended Lewis’ “The Scewtape Letters,” quintessential reading, I’ve been told, for those wishing to deepen their theological understanding on the dynamics of spiritual warfare.

It might be that there was still a heart of unbelief IN their prayer. Maybe that made them not effective. This was SUCH a great message. It really is as simple as "belief is a choice". It's not a feeling but more of an action. We want to be convinced so that we are relieved of the responsibility to choose. But like Paul said, then we are demanding answers or circumstances from God. And where is the faith in that? How do we exercise our faith? Choosing to belief when we can't see. And putting the reason we believe in all of the characteristics of God. Believing not by sight, not by our own understanding, but by faith.

The only reason that demon wanted to stay is to destroy and kill him… until that was done it didn’t want to let go. Once the body die… they will simply find another host and start over again. What’s interesting to me this one requires prayer and fasting. I love it here, you uncover all the questions and answers them all. God bless you!

I love this story! I see Jesus standing between 2 apostles and the man says “if you can do something”… Jesus with his head down looks up with his eyes at the man and says “if I can do something?”. Then he turns to the 2 apostles, “ if I can do something? Get a load of this guy. ‘If I can do something’.”.

The KJV says "This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting." I'm not sure why that version being used chose to omit the use of "fasting". This is a powerful spiritual tool that should not be overlooked or ignored. Great teachings by the way.
@CalvaryChapelOntarioАй бұрын
Pastor Paul answers this question in one of his Q&As. The oldest and most reliable translations do not include the phrase 'fasting', therefore some of the newer translations that have access to older manuscripts do not include it either. Nonetheless, both prayer and fasting are genuine and powerful tools.
