Not a dancer, but I was wondering if they were both leading! It looked almost like a fight for the lead?
@JlonotfromtheblockАй бұрын
@@terroringlassesThat’s sort of the point of why the tango was invented. It was traditionally meant to be danced between two men and almost look like a duel, where there’s a question and answer. So when danced traditionally with two men, one will lead (aka ask the question), and the other will follow (aka answer) and then it swaps back and forth. Hence why it looks like they’re fighting for the lead, because essentially they sort of are. Does that make sense? (It does look really quite different to when danced with a man and a woman as its less of a duel as it generally follows the traditional roles of dance of the man leading and the woman following.)

Seeing a historically accurate Argentine tango made me fall in love with dancing all over again. As someone who's danced ballroom a time or two, the speed and control required for this choreography are astounding. Not only are they excellent dancers and leaders in their own right, but you can see the thirty-year history and trust they have together in this dance. I don't think it would've gone as well with anyone else. It HAD to be these two for such an undertaking. Beautifully done, gentlemen!

This dance was a joy to watch and I am glad I got to witness history !! Hands down, one of my favorite dances of all time, this is how you do an Argentine Tango and aside from that, they seem so humble and cool and have so much history going way back, Len Goodman was definitely smiling down happy and proud of this dance, like we all were !! I was impressed with the history behind the Argentine Tango. That men usually danced with men, since there were scarce females on the working places. Of course, no TV,radio,iPads iPhones, etc. etc. this was a fun way to spend some time after work, making up new dances and new moves and competing with one another. No better two than these two Mark and Derek are a close to brothers as you can be, Possibly even closer than most brothers even. So this was amazing and extremely athletic. Dancing is not a prissy sport. Just like Poodles are not prissy dogs. Poodles are most likely one of the most athletic dogs there are of course with the exception, of Belgian Malinois and maybe Border Collies and Blue Heelers? But this was an amazing exhibition of the history of this specific dance. Thanks. I also remember learning on DWS was that the woman would turn her head way away from the man’s armpits because men didn’t always shower regularly so that is how the dance “in hold” became so extreme in the ladies head moved as far from the man’s pits as possible. Nice little trivia!!! 🤭 🥴
