His manoeuvre is definitely worth an instant disqualification. Ramming someone off a wheel into the barriers... Could have been another Jakobsen incident.

He's not dirty, He is just like any other sprinter. They are nuts. If you're a sprinter and you're not willing to fight position your career is finished. Elbowing/bumping is part of sprinting it's not all about watts positioning is just as important and that's all he does here if the barriers are not there ( they weren't when he initially bumps Welsford ) There is plenty of room for what he did.

He has to see in front of him as well, so yes, he shoved him into the barrier. Racing is dangerous enough without a violent rider in the peleton.

Dylan Groenewegen caused life changing injuries to Jacobsen. He doesn't learn. He is a dirty sprinter and I won't be surprised if something terrible is going to happen again with him being involved.

Sorry what does he do that's "dirty" here? Elbowing/bumping when fighting position like that is perfectly fine. It's the barriers that come out of no where that cause the issue. What he did to Jakobsen was completely different and definitely on purpose.

Good to see Cav looking good in the run up to the tour. Nothing is guaranteed but the most exciting version of the tour this year is one where he's in the mix in all the sprints and has a real chance to get the record. Also appreciate the way he talked about the effort of all his teammates today. Class, there. Groenewegen on the other hand, SHOULD be disqualified for that. I don't know if cycling gives more severe punishments to repeat offenders, but it probably should, and I understand that "rubbing is racing" to an extent, and that the lead into a sprint can really be chaos, but I don't think there should be any tolerance for running a guy into the barriers. It's one thing to deviate a bit, one can argue that's accidental, but this is WAY worse. Especially from a man who almost killed someone doing this only a few years ago.

A lot of people dumping on Groenewegen here, and much of it justified, but he got piled into here and might have been pushed into the rider on his side if he hadn't pushed back. This is Welsford's fault and he should have been penalized. Looks like he did go back at him for too long though. I think the 10 second penalty was just about right.

Here’s a hot take: Ineos should have signed Cav on a 1yr deal (he prob comes for free) and gone all out for Cav for a sprint win. G leading him out again, full train. Rowe road captain. They won’t even podium the tour on GC. British team with a chance to make history with Cav, was an opportunity missed.

Groenewegen doing what most sprinters do. Lets not pretend its only him. Its ridiculous though. Groenewegen made a good point while ago though. He said he does not agree with his 9 month ban since the UCI has not banned anyone else since his ban while plenty of shoves, headbutts and line deviations are made. The only reason he got banned is because there was an atrocious crasg, but everytime there is no god awful crash UCI does nothing or maybe a 10sec penalty. Its fing stupid. Uci are the true awful people. Ps I dont like Groenewegen either. I think he didnt show much remorse and most of all talks about himself. Im not defending his actions, but he is right on the UCI

He had no legal rights to the footage. He’d get all of his videos on it taken down and would likely be sued. He talks a little bit about the Giro on his podcast. Never actually listened so I don’t know how much of it is actually about the Giro right now
