Gary Speed's death was a real tragedy. Seemed like he was an absolute top bloke. I refereed a work game once. Not as easy as it looks. Your not quite as certain with the whistle in your mouth. That said, you will inevitably get your fair share of "Napoleons" wanting to be refs. Isn't Bellamy the guy who took a golf club to another player - the "Nutter with the Putter"? Kind of figures he'd be an arsehole to referee.
@bazhughes5625
@bazhughes5625 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, as a Liverpool fan I remember this like it was yesterday. The weird thing is, he took that golf club to John Arne Riise, and the both of them scored in the very next game, away to Barcelona in a 2-1 away win in the Champions League. Imagine if they were both stopped from playing in that game? We'll never know.

What about his performance for the Chelsea vs Spurs game 2006...he's quoted as saying..."If I sent three players off from Tottenham, what are the headlines? 'Clattenburg cost Tottenham the title.' It was pure theatre that Tottenham self-destructed against Chelsea and Leicester won the title." Asked if he helped to "script" the game, he replied: "I helped the game. I certainly benefited the game by my style of refereeing. "Some referees would have played by the book; Tottenham would have been down to seven or eight players and probably lost and they would've been looking for an excuse. Some would say he simply was a coward not wishing to out his European Championship opportunities at risk, so he let Chelsea players be hacked around...I for one am glad he ran off from EPL and hope he never returns...

Ashutosh Kumar and he gave 2 pens at Upton park not long after. Liverpools gameplan was to scavenge as many penalties as possible. Over 15 that season. Disgraceful

He is a Newcastle fan but he did give redcard to Henderson against Man City and was one of the reason Liverpool came second and not first

Big Virgil yeah we've just won the league by a landslide, breaking most domestic records in the process but yes we're shit because refs don't help us..... fucking hell, no wonder you lot can't get jobs with brains like yours. Christ

What about Laurent Koscielny's handball against Portugal in the Finals of Euro 2018? Does anyone recall? Free kick hits the bar, then France never got chance to clear; eventually Eder takes a shot outside the box.

Did not realise that Clattenberg chatted with Mourinho about not only soccer but as he says in the clip, life. What else I wonder? Globalisation? The global economy ? The nature of inflation in the British economy? Growth theory? Nuclear physics? Mozart's relationship with his father? Beethoven's political motivation towards The French Revolution? Whether or not Russia has more nukes than it says it has? Chinese Foreign Policy 1966 - 2008?
