And in Italy over 22 000 prisoners escaped due to gaurds not coming to work from fear of the virus spreading in the prison, and they were stirring up fights at the local malls not far from the prison. Iran let out over 90 000 prisoners for the same reason.

Italians are too nonchalant, they dont take stuff like this seriously, thats why they got the worst of it. It's weird to look at this more than two years later. Cuban was stumbling over his words, not really knowing what to think, which reflected what a lot of people, even the experts were feeling at the time. A lot of people took a lot of heat for shutting things down, not just NBA, but everything in general, and we now know that shutting things down was the wrong thing to do. But nobody really knew much about the virus or how deadly it would be. If you told them that two years later, almost everyone would have had it, they would have envisioned many of their family and friends dying and bodies littering the streets.

In China, people aged 10-39 only had a 0.2% death rate from this virus, and those in their 40s only 0.4%, compared to the flu which is 0.1%. Not only that, these numbers and the total numbers worldwide are likely high and not accurate, due to the fact that there were likely a vast number of people who had mild symptoms and never got tested because they weren't sick enough. Those people are not factored into the equation and WebMD states that the real death rate may be closer to that of the flu during a sever flu season. Obviously we can't confidently say what it is like compared to the flu or anything, because there is not sufficient information yet. However, considering those who are not of old age and suffering from deteriorating health are at a significantly low risk of dying from this virus, and the death rates are likely high and skewed due to lack of testing on people who did not get tested because they were not sick enough, I wouldn't freak out and say "we're all going to die" or that our hospitals will clog up or something. This is what media does. It sends everybody into a frenzy, but if you just calm down and look at it from a logical and statistical point of view, there is no reason to panic.

I get what you’re saying and that’s fair it is just a game, that being said I don’t think this is ultimately about the players. This is about their families and those they come in contact with. Coronavirus will not kill 90+% of people. The elderly (big chunk of fans), immunodeficient patients= high high risk of death/bad outcomes. A healthy NBA player is EXTREMELY unlikely to be harmed by this infection in the long term. Do your research.
