This is one of those ‘even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.” Driscoll is not someone I would encourage people to learn from. His history with churches he has been involved with have been very messy.

Bizarre. Absolutely bizarre. I only saw clip of the weirdo rip off his shirt etc then the sword then the pole... with zero connection to the conference. I was stunned to learn later this was a billed as a 'Christian' men's conference. The clip of the sorcerer was bad enough but not my interest. Gaudy & deviant is common. But to be the opening 'act' .... ?? This ain't lukewarm church this is the straight up church of satannnn. And did mark driscoll speak to the head satanist pastor before the conference knowing a sorcerer was the entertainment but said nothing? Or was Driscoll unaware a sorcerer was the opening jam? Huh. See what happens when one allows one drop of poison to foul the well? No one may die but everyone who drinks gets sick. Grrro-o-o-sssss.

Thank you for sharing this with a longer version, I watched this on other channels and I heard Pastor Mark say my voice is horsed and said let me say this I was up all night praying for you and I thought did he know what was going on ? Did the Lord send him to go and say what to tell the church ? What ever Praise God he did not give in and said what he said 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I have seen a lot of his teaching very straight forward in his teaching and the word of God prayers for him and lots of people are going around sharing a video shouting at men in his church but it was a scolding to man up God will bless him and reward him in Jesus name !!

He didn't just "get back up on stage and apologize". Pastor John Lindell - the lead pastor and host of this event - Removed Mark and then later had Mark come back on stage so they could "work out their differences in front of the group". The problem is, John used "Matthew 18" (where have we heard This before? 🙄) to shut down Mark's accurate assessment of the inappropriateness of this display...but then John brings Mark back up to say, "See, we honor & love Mark and what he said doesn't take away from that" 🤔🤔🤔 Uhh, why would it? He was speaking the truth. Then Mark - in a very awkward situation agrees that he "loves and honors John as well" (great) but rather than pointing out that loving & honoring John ISN'T synonymous with CONDONING his poor choices, instead he is forced to "go along" with the "Matthew 18" framing of the situation, rather than asserting a Galatians 2 position.

So let’s see… Mark Driscoll was called out by elders who saw in him a compromised life- with manipulation and spiritual abuse at Mars Hill… so he uses the “God told me” card to quit. (When others weren’t allowed to “quit”.) He starts up another church. Then he expects to go and boldly call out obvious questionable behavior/sin in a different church gathering and be respected? I can't see Jesus sitting in the crowd being happy about any of it from any angle. Outside the church if this dude wants to swallow swords and look cool, whatever, but what happened to just preaching and teaching the Word of God? Allowing it to speak to man's heart and the Spirit of God to convict men of their sin and need for God. I just don't get it. Why do these guys try so hard to put on a show? I wouldn't go anywhere within a hundred miles of a "Men's Conference" to begin with. Evangelicaldom is self-importantly conference-drunk on the illusion that all its conferences are like the assembly of God's court or something, like they're really tearing down strongholds and taking the world for Jesus by obsessively holding conferences to keep talking at each other. Christian conference are one big mass selfie. Like Jesus said "Go ye into all the world and hold conferences." It's perfectly predictable that the conference craze, in tandem with the general sensation and ecstatic mantric trance craze in modern evangelicaldom, what they obtusely call "worship," would only keep ratcheting up in more and more frenetically exhibitionist ways. It's like 2+2=4, an absolutely predictable psychoemotional trajectory. Has nothing to do with "the Spirit," it's all about human urges and mass mania.

This was Not a "private offense" which is what Matthew 18 refers to. This was a Public offense, just as when Peter behaved in a Publicly Hypocritical way by not eating with Gentiles when the Jews/Judaizers were present. This is why in Galatians 2 Paul Openly and Publicly rebuked Peter for his public sin of hypocrisy that brought damage to the believers.
