I have been watching this guy since 1990 at least and I never realized how different his kickflips are. He doesn't really kick them. He just kind of moves his front foot to the side.

It's funny, when this video came out and I was much much younger, I remember watching it and failing to see why everyone credited the Gonz as being one of the most influential skaters of all time. True he's one of the founders of modern day street skating, but in the early 2000s, his style of skating compared to that of the average wannabe Andrew Reynolds professional skater stuck out like a sore thumb. Fast forward a good 15 years, and everyone is skating like this. Gonz, forever ahead of his time.

I was lucky enough in the Hammer Era to have older skaters around me who knew what was timeless and they always spoke about Gonz, the Older Real Videos, of course eastern exposure, etc… These guys fashion and style of skating has always been on that level of creativity and understanding regardless of the changes in trends where other people got led astray…Its simple, 'Keep Skating Real'

I was just thinking this as I watched this part. I remember skating in early 2000s and we all wanted to be like Reynolds or Koston. Gonz was like this weird guy landing everything really sketchy. Now watching this it all makes sense. Gonz is just so ahead of his time.
