I've watched this video at least twice a month for the last year. I will never get tired of it, the first line at 1:35 and the fill at 1:51 are the two coolest licks ever put to drums.

Totally agree! 1.51 is so classy!

Just wanted to leave a short note. I was writing early childhood music curriculum this morning and was creatively stuck on a point. I came to this video for inspiration. After watching it twice, I am no longer stuck. Thank you Mark

@vinnienickoloff90 Are we watching the same video? The arc of that solo was so unbelievably well crafted, not to mention his phrasing is nuts. Granted, he's not as clear with his phrasing as a drummer like max roach, but he's also going for a completely different sound. As far as self-control goes, all those ghost notes on the snare are perfectly in the grid. This guy has way more self-control than most drummers I've heard that are his age.

well, the cymbal crash is exactly 1 beat early if that's what you're referring to. It COULD be intentional, but he did look a little surprised after it. Not really important IMO...the energy is so insane and it doesnt phase anyone whatsoever, it just keeps building and getting progressively more insane

@ELPsteel12 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? It is strictly in 7. Not "variable" whatsoever. Almost all music with any kind of pulse is metered, so I'm not sure where you're coming from with the "classical age" comment.

What is the time signature for this ?
@dwightbrady55994 жыл бұрын
7/8, though I can't hear or feel it like that. I split it into 2 sections. The first has 16 beats, and the second has 12. I never actively count it when I'm listening or playing to it.
