IT was sad to hear about Mark's broken nose -- and allegedly near fatal crash -- but his "new" face for Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, in my opinion, added to his character's growth as a Jedi Knight and really as a grown man. By Return of the Jedi, Luke was no longer a farm boy.

The interviewer asks terrific questions (unfortunately for Ford). So grateful for the channel for posting these.

Interviews serve two purposes: to entertain and to get to know about the celebrities. Harrison is really bad at this (or totally indifferent), lol. Hamill was on it! Funny how both their answers and attitudes really reflect how they view their roles in these movies in hindsight today. Just because he talks a little slower than Mark? Actually this is one of the better Harrison interviews I've seen. Usually he talks excrutiatingly slow, seems distracted and generally miserable. Fossegrim I remember reading an interview with the director on Return of the Jedi, and he said Harrison was trying hard to convince him to kill Han off because he didn't want to do Star Wars anymore. The fact that he refused until a certain sum of money was involved further proves his reluctance or approval of his involvement with the series.

Yeah, it sounds pretty chilling! Actually, the original title for 'Return of the Jedi' was supposed to be 'Revenge of the Jedi.' During the time of this interview it was still 'Revenge of the Jedi.' It wasn't until later, shortly before the film was released, that it was changed to 'Return of the Jedi.' The cast and crew decided that 'Revenge of the Jedi' did not make sense and ruined the image of the Jedi because Jedi do not seek revenge. They seek protection and peace. The title 'Return of the Jedi' also ties into the fact that after Luke becomes a full Jedi and he and his friends save the galaxy, all of the deceased Jedi "return" through their Force spirits at the end of the movie.

Harrison Ford is the only guy who, stoned out of his mind as he obviously is, can still be cool as hell.

The title everyone was familiar with through media bombardment was "Revenge Of The Jedi". Should've called it Shark Jump Of The Jedi though.

interviews back then were like that..? it feels like a therapy session

Force 10 from Navarrone, one of Harrison's "less successful pictures", was great!

Amazing how both main characters of the original trilogy are the last surviving members of that trilogy

I love that Mark says “Revenge of the Jedi” not “Return of the Jedi”
@CrixMadine4 жыл бұрын
Rockabilly Ragsdale because it was the original title at that time. Changed later by George Lucas

Man, you can really see how Hamill's appearance changed between ANH to TESB.

Nah as much as TESB to TLJ

Mark Hamill finishes with "I probably talk too much". Yes, he did in old interviews, but cut forward a couple decades to no answer under 10 minutes.

How differently the interview pace is these days. Every thing was so much slower back then. All about the advertising bucks now.

Harrison Ford was Smart and was careful not to be type casted or stereo typed in just sci fi . He had a Expanded and brilliant career due to his OTHER work
@kamuelalee5 жыл бұрын
He never really cared for the Han Solo character and wanted to do more dramatic work like Witness, among others.

"Revenge" of the Jedi! Wow. This guy Linehan is actually pretty good. I got the impression from Martin Short's Brock Linehan routine that he was kind of a joke. Again, he's pretty competent. Brock had a better theme song though.
@7beers9 жыл бұрын
+assignmentearth Linehan was one of the best interviewers. I'm going through all of these clips!
@Caennuck9 жыл бұрын
+assignmentearth . Not sure if your wow was because you think he got it wrong, but Revenge of the Jedi was the original title. They changed it to make it less aggressive in keeping with the idea of the Jedi.
@assignmentearth28999 жыл бұрын
+TheSeannachaidh yes. Yes, aware of that. impressive bit of history there to witness. I have a friend who worked at a movie theater at that time, remembers seeing a poster with that title in the lobby. Wishes he had it now. Worth money now.
@usctrojans0017 жыл бұрын
You caught that too! I was aware of the Original Title but glad to hear Mark say it back then.
@dplatt72907 жыл бұрын
assignmentearth that's the gag; Linehan was known for his amazing research. Martin Short turned that around and made his parody incompetent. Both Short and Linehan were from Hamilton and apparently Linehan liked the parody

Harrison Ford: preternaturally sexy as a mind and as male embodiment. Mark Hamill lacks the easy charisma but he seems a really sweet and rather intelligent man, as well.
@SuperBabyMario0C6 жыл бұрын
Nah I think they were both charismatic here, but Ford is more charming

Hamill is so articulate and engaging. We usually think of Ford as the charismatic one, but there’s something humble and endearing about Hamill. It’s unfortunate he was type cast after SW. There’s clearly a deep intelligence and talent there.
