James Bryant I think he planned a 9 or 12 movie total story. George Lucas now in his 70's just doesn't want to commit the time and effort it would take to make more Star Wars. It's why he sold to Disney.

+Blue Whovian I know. Just imagine if they'd done all nine films he intended, with his usual three year gap between each movie. 4, 5 + 6 as we know with the original cast we know. 1, 2 + 3 in '86, '89 + '92 with a younger cast. Then 7, 8 + 9 back with an older, original cast in '95, '98 + '01. The potential was staggering for the greatest film series ever. But nope, he had to wait, and wait, and wait.....until he'd lost it.

Everyone says that Lucas never had the prequels in mind when making the original trilogy..yet they didn't even film Return of the Jedi yet ( then called Revenge of the Jedi but was changed when George Lucas came to the conclusion that Jedi don't seek revenge, so the title didn't make sense and was changed to Return ) Mark Hammil knew about episodes I, II & III. Yet people still say George Lucas came up with the idea to make the prequel trilogy in the 90s.
@McSuperfly101
@McSuperfly101 5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure why anybody would say that he came up with the idea for prequels in the 90’s because it makes literally no sense. After the initial release of Star Wars he subsequently added the whole “Episode IV A New Hope” title and ESB & RotJ we’re named episode V and VI respectively... everyone knew that he was obviously planning on going back and doing I-III at some point, it was just that he took such a long break after RotJ that many thought he never was never going to get round to it.

+Eren Nova Tk Lucas wanted to call it "Return" from the start, actually, but he was told it was a weak title. They went with "Revenge" as a result, and then Lucas changed it back to "Return" in December 1982, months before the film's release. His reasoning for this was that a Jedi doesn't take revenge, which informed the title of Episode III.
