@jhriffs I think yours is better but a lot of people are waiting for Ola Englund including my friend. He can make a toaster chug.

When I went to bed I was absolutely sure you had posted a comparison between the reissue, III and VII, but now I don't see it.

Thanks for showing the secret ingredient! You forgot to hide the "Metal Zone" behind the amp! 🤣😂 Joking aside and great clip. I had not lost faith that the IIC+ RI would sound great and your solid playing demonstrate that amp is tight! Liked and subscribed to not miss your next clips. What was the riff at 1:30?
@jhriffsАй бұрын
Haha, too bad it’s broken or that could be an entertaining experiment, I mostly use it as a phone stand now. This amp sounds very good. I’ve been messing with the settings all day and have found some great tones. The song is Strike of the Beast by Exodus!

@ hey dude, I got it last night and it’s pretty good but man, I have no idea how to dial the thing in. I’m too used to my diesel amps which are much easier. Can you do a full video where you actually dial it in on camera?Cheers dude.
@jhriffsАй бұрын
Great to hear you got it, and yeah these things can be pretty confusing at first, but eventually it becomes second nature. I’m not really good at explaining so I’ll just give you some resources that helped me figure out boogie amps. Plague Scythe Studios has a few good videos on his mark iv and a comparison between a iic+, iii, and iv that have a lot of good information. Leon Todd also has some good videos explains the controls. The manual was also finally uploaded to the site and each knob has about a full page explaining exactly what they do and how to use them. Here is the link to that: legacy.mesaboogie.com/support/user-manuals.html?lang=English&outOfProduction=0&phrase= . If you have any other questions I’d be happy to help!

Really enjoying your videos and trying to justify making my order haha. Keep them coming, but you aren’t having the whistling problem like some others?
@jhriffsАй бұрын
Thanks, I’ll try to get a few up later this week! It’s not really an issue if you use the settings normally. You have to be specifically trying to get it to do that for it to happen. If you read through the Mark III-VII manuals you will see mentions of the same thing happening if you push the settings too hard, so it’s not really something that becomes an issue.

hey man, awesome tones, and i was wondering, i'm about to buy a mesa boogie mark five 25, and a 1x12 rec cab, and i was just wondering how loud is it? like is it loud enough for gigging?
@jhriffsАй бұрын
If you are going too be micing it it should work fine. I’m not sure how it would be just on its own. It is very good when turned up and can get really loud. I felt it held together much better at high volume than the Rectoverb 25.

Does the reissue have the vintage feel and sound like your mark iii or is it more modern like the 7?
@jhriffsАй бұрын
It’s a little bit in between. Feel wise it leans more towards the III, but it is much clearer sounding like the VII. The IIC is super smooth to play while the VII it puts your playing under a microscope. It’s hard to compare to the III because the worn components could be causing it to be less defined.
@Tombking2Ай бұрын
A huge part of vintage sound is in the miking techniques, soundboards and analog tape, the original IIC+ will absolutely sound super modern if you want it too
@MesaBVHTАй бұрын
Nice!
@jaboozledАй бұрын
How's the amp so far compared to Mark IV/IIC+ settings on the VII?
@jhriffsАй бұрын
It’s very similar to the IIC mode on the VII, but smoother and with more control over the sound due to the extra pulls and knobs. The mark IV mode is kind of its own thing. Still really great, but in a different way.
@PK22-b7vАй бұрын
Crunch Berries goodness 🙂
@kevinac4397Ай бұрын
Sounds awesome. What does it bring to the table that the half a dozen mark amps with a iic mode can’t?
@jhriffsАй бұрын
The modes have a lot of the controls hardwired to specific values. This one gives the full operation of all the pull switches and knobs. Of course the others have other features that make up for it in some ways like separate channel controls and mode switches.
@william91786Ай бұрын
They tried to capture the vintage sound/feel of the og iic+. If it does then, this will save folks loads of money from buying a used one. Other than that, I don't think it anything. Probably just pick up a nice mark iii if you want the authentic tone.
@kevinac4397Ай бұрын
@@jhriffs ah, makes sense. I was pretty sure already that it was marketed towards someone wanting to specifically relive the original experience, which is fun! The price with respect to the jp2c and mark 7 is what makes it an interesting choice.
@jhriffsАй бұрын
Yeah, I’ve never been interested in the JP so all of the people I’ve seen that say “just get the JP, it’s much better” never really landed with me. I definitely prefer this one and the VII, but it’s a good thing that they offer options. They all bring something different to the table so I don’t understand all of the complaining from people who don’t want it. They are free to not buy it. As for the pricing, I agree it is probably a bit overpriced when compared to the features of the JP and the VII, but at the same time it’s sold out for months so it’s not like it wasn’t priced competitively.
@stevenc9614Ай бұрын
I get why people want to call it overpriced, but compared to how much a IIC+ with these features (eq, reverb, etc) originally sold for and adjusted for inflation, the price is pretty comparable.
@Cara-CalicoАй бұрын
Maybe im in the minority here but to me it sounds very boxy

Get bigger strings for the dropped tuning because it sounds loose and outta tune when you strum the open.... get you some thicker strings so you can really hear that shit do what its supposd to do when you hit it like you mean it. Trust me.
