Unbelievable film. Saw it when I was 20 on late night TV - mesmerised by it.

wow you explain this movie pretty well. I always thought it was wonderful and awkward and confusing and moving. But to call it a series of "misrememberances" over the course of a coming-of-age summer (or maybe it's a Fall?) really ties it together.

'Misremembrance of things past: Depression is associated with difficulties in the recollection of both specific and categoric autobiographical memories'. Despite an ending that seems to suggest a moral, this is a tough pill to take. Some shots are impressive; perhaps they are there to contrast with the soullessness America seems to be credited with bringing the world. Apparently, had been reading 'Alice in Wonderland'. The innocent seeming Alice of that finds a very distant cousin here.

this is a pure genre of "southern gothic". It is difficult to imagine a more accurate hit under her canon. In second place is a mixture of social drama, thriller and psychological horror, but from an oppressive atmosphere. I was very impressed with the film, this is the kind of art I'm looking for. The first 20 minutes were not smooth, then it dragged on. A very strong picture, full of symbolism, music, dialogues - everything will spin in step with the waltz of doom. I don’t think that this is an “art house”, I found the director’s explanation: this is the summer of the end of the childhood of one child, but these memories are already in his head in the future, knowing that, the boy will understand later. That is, the film is a mixture of memory and the subconscious of a guy, so this psychedelic touch is even brilliant.

A masterpiece. With one of the most emotionally devastating endings in film history, set with a brilliant score by Nick Bicat

...a remembering? I didn't see that. Nothing in the movie, anywhere at all, gives you any indication that this is a remembering, and a lost-pieces-puzzle remembering at that. Stuff just happens and you're never told why. It's frightening vagueness served with beautiful cinematography. Nothing is explained at the end. Anyone could say this movie meant literally anything at all because it's all mood. Frame after frame. Mood.

I remember seeing this on VHS as a kid. I found it in my older brother's collection and gave it a shot - most frustrating movie I had ever seen but I still find myself thinking about it. There was a preview in the VHS that has me curious, maybe one of you out there knows what I am talking about since it's been a while. I believe it was about a grumpy older woman getting her comeuppance or something.

So whats the answer? At one point, I thought her husband was the boy that his father was involved with?
@chasx70626 жыл бұрын
you would expect that it would be about the grumpy older woman, but its was about the boy being a d!ck to her, his father and serial murders

Ima both agree and disagree. It was just stuff that happen with no knowing why. And then it ended. It was in the theater the same time as Terminator 2. I went and saw Terminator 2.
