After all these years he still looks as if he is painfully shy. I've never had any other guitarist "move " me the way he does when he plays Thanks for posting this. It is rare for us in the US to get anything on him. Love You Markie Mark Knoplfler!

If there's one musician I'd like to have a pint with - it's him. He seems like a good guy to hang out with in the pub.

@jltardiff It's all about marketing, ask every person you meet and he'll probably say Hendrix is the greatest or clapton is god... MK is actually the only sane role model in this entire industry, not seeking fame for doing stupid stuff, not killing himself with drugs like most of his generation...

Not alot of people realise it but Mark Knopfler is one funny fucker... But more importantly he's still got that Alchemy live to this day!
@omril115 жыл бұрын
@jltardiff I'm with you in that one, It's all about the music and lyrics with mark and the technics doesn't matter to him he never played fast or did something flashy just to show he can. it had to make sense musically and add to the tone or emotion he is conveying Mark you're an inspiration to me !
@benjic8014 жыл бұрын
Nicest GUITAR GOD ever. His humbleness is ore inspireing! @ jltardiff you are so correct. He's there at the top with Beck, Clapton, Hendrix, King, Guy, Emmanuele, his friend and fan Atkins, and the young decipale John Mayer. I know many will disagree. I cannot say there are 26 better. My Brothers in arms will agree with me. So putting (Money) against it would be (For Nothing!) May 2010 @ Bournemouth was the best show of musicianship I have ever seen. Thanks Mark.

The interviewer is actually quite taken with him. Her "laughter" at the title True Love Will Last Forever" is a recognition of it's truth, even in this postmodern age of cynicism and commercialism. He may be a little dyspeptic, but being in his 60s, who cares??!! He is a wonderful songwriter, and a great guitarist. He and his groups have sold more than the Beatles. Give it up!

It's Mariella Frostrup interviewing him. It may be that they were short on time, but I thought she kept interrupting him and was poor at letting him finish what he wanted to say.

He's damned right about Macintyre, for a year I went to the same school, and the gym teacher was sadistic borderline psychopath.

obviously he lost his Geordie accent -he's educated (university degree), he's not one of those working class meatheads u cannot understand, he's lived in London for the last 30 years and he uses proper literary English that is not posh at all, it's just English one should use, that's all

so, here is Mark, trying to say something intelligent, and the interviewer (can she be called that ?) is riding over him. Must be hard work, putting up with her inane rubbish, Mark did a great job, despite the triteness of her questions and glib interjections.
@mairianncullen8753 Жыл бұрын
Yes the interviewer was very poor here. Mark K is such a good deadpan storyteller too. She might have let him talk more.

Maybe indigestion. He just may not be comfortable in that situation. But I wish she had just let him talk about McIntyre. Maybe they didn't have much time for the full story.

Typical older-younger bro rivalry... Older had more ambition and possibly talent, and the younger has better looks and better hearline... Perhaps Mark just couldn't handle that kind of competition :-)

@jltardiff that list is based on sex appeal like everything else rolling stone magazine does - not on INTERPRETING YOUR OWN SONGS WITH A GUITAR

Come on lads, where do you hear his Geordie accent? He's completely lost it, like many other Tyneside celebrities (Sting, Bryan Ferry, John Miles, Neil Tennant, etc.): they all turned to posh English, can't you hear it?
@ManchesterBlackSheep Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was thinking that. He's even saying "laast" rather than "last" here. Sad.

And shouldn't one ideally be above calling working class people meatheads? If one is an obnoxious snob, of course, that's a different story, I assume.

whos that women in the white at 4:16 i would: i believe the term in common parlance is "do'' yes, yes thats it 'i would most certainly "DO'' her "
He says he holds a guitar like a: "plumber holds a hammer." A plumber's favored tool is a wrench. A carpenter would be more likely to hold a hammer. Out of touch millionaire failing miserably when attempting to using a "keep it real" euphemism.
@abdelmalekeladlani91877 жыл бұрын
You missed his point. He's saying he holds it "wrong" (according to traditional guitar teaching). So the analogy is pretty close, I'd say. Not too much of a stretch to imagine a plumber holding a hammer wrong.
