I grew up with this music. It was still "real" music for me. The LP Love over Gold played up and down on my record player and accompanied me in quiet hours. I was listening to Dire Straits at the age of 10, when everyone else my age didn't even know it. Pink Floyd was also one of the bands I listened to. Queen with Freddie was my hero. Good old days. I remember those beautiful and quiet (childhood and youth) times with a little tear in my eye. It will never be the same again. I would say that the 70s and 80s were the best time of my life.

Well, i`m one of these people who suffer extremely under the reality of getting older. I often sit at home, listen to my records from the 70`s and 80`s thinking about this time with tears in my eyes. Thinking about all of childhood and teen heros. All the lovely movies, all these new inventions we got in these time. About my dad who passed away 2 years ago and my 84 years old mom. Than i realize that my childhood is over and i`m an older man. I wanna thank all of these brilliant heroes of my life "like Mark" for so so many lovely moments in my life. For moments full of tears and moments full of joy....thank you so so much...you/they are my life...for ever and always.

Hello German guy. Spent many many happy years in Germany, Minden, Bielefeld, Oerlinghausen, Hanover, Hamm, Helmstedt, West Berlin, Hildesheim and I want to thank you for all the happy years that I had in Germany when I was a child, a teenager and a young twenty-something (having a ball in W.Berlin working as a barmaid). Yes you are right getting old is not fun - although there is one good thing about it - I no longer care whether men find me attractive or not - I've turned into a contended cat lady living out her final days in her London flat. I listen to Mark/Dire Straits almost every day and if its not him its Peter Gabriel/The Scissor Sisters/Frankie/Simple Minds - at least they are still here for us to brighten up our day - but Mark yes Mark is my favourite - love him to bits and bits and bits and bits and more bits he is truly a unique being. Love Liz xoxxoxox

I remember my wife and I going to visit my sister and her husband. And we were all sitting around outside in front of his garage and he says, "Man...you've got to hear this." So he goes inside and cranks his stereo and I hear 'The Sultans of Swing' for the first time. "Who the f**k is that!" I say. "Dire Straits", he tells me. "Who?" That was over 40 years ago...and it is one of those memories that is as clear as if it was yesterday. Thanks, Mark!

FANTASTIC. In my view, Sultans of Swing is somehow an anointed rock song, a musical trip, that sets the bar high, yet to be matched....I am pushing 70 now, and there are times when I just have to hear it , again. and his other blend of awesome from that era. So wonderful that Mark Knopfler went on.... to rain blessings on us with other rare treasures of poetry and guitar that sends us soaring. To me he has wrapped new finely crafted European folk music up in a hypnotic hug! And lets not forget...Mason Dixon. What wonderful gifts of spirit from a gifted troubadour..Just had to say it.

I saw this concert in Vienna, not realising it was a leg of Mark and the Boy's last tour. I'm so glad I had that experience. And I hope they're all happy with their changed lives and careers now they no longer touring. They got this tour in just in time before the Chinese virus and lockdowns occurred which would certainly have ruined it. I was sorting through my CDs yesterday, trying to organise myself again. I realised that I have so many MK and DS CDs that i must be close to a full set, I must check and try to fill the holes. Apart from the phenomenal music, Mark is an interesting man with an interesting family history, particularly on his Father's side. We are lucky he made a wise move by coming to the UK and gave Mark to us all.

Sorry for the comment below. I’m only 74yr old. Alone in a cute house my gorgeous wife and I built. She passed after 46yrs and 4 great children. We were missionaries in PNG when we met and married so started life knowing that even if we grew old one day soon before fools destroy this earth we would walk together when “the meek shall inherit the earth and live forever on it” for “the earth was made for the sons of men”. Neither of us wished to go to heaven...that’s for “kings and priests” who will rule over this earth when “the wicked will be no more”. Yes, I grieve over her, it’s almost 5yrs now. After 3yrs I up and bought a ticket to NYC. Found an hostel app and booked myself in at Upper Manhattan. Took a Greyhound to Washington and few other places. Came back to NY spent weeks walking the familiar streets, Subway, met amazing people. Then one evening noticed the above show!! Hey, could this country boy actually go to Madison Square Garden? Would only do it to see Mark and here he was weeks before Covid! Hostel printer messed up my ticket so young guy on the door, turned me away! So? I found another door with an old guy on it......never, ever give up. Fabulous night cannot believe it now even...it’s winter here and bit cold but am about to go into my shed to start building my second camper trailer. First one I cut off an 80’s camper to the floor, extended the floor with a semi circle at front and duck tail at the back and built an aluminium skinned copy (but improved) Airstream Basecamp. Took it on a test run 4000 km like a trout in a stream. Today I start again, this time a copy of Pino 2010 2 berth camper towable by small sedan. I plan to have so many things to tell my Karen when we see each other again soon. So. Don’t sit and mope. Plant a garden. Ride a bike again. Spend on an ebike and go for long rides through trails or streets with wind in you face. Don’t know how to build? At night don’t watch TV. Watch KZbin. Andrew Camarata will teach you everything. There are boat builders, saw millers, tiny house builders, watchmakers...etc etc. You are alive! People from Syria have a right to complain....we DONT. Start something today...."

Mark has always had a loyal following in the USA, surprisingly even amongst the post Dire Straits generation... just goes on to show ... what a capital guy he is...

Not that he needs anyone's help but his collaborations with Emmylou Harris and Alison Kraus cemented something deep in the US.

I bloody love that he unashamedly opens with Why Aye Man in front of a NYC audience (and indeed all around the world on this tour) and even plays the Blaydon Races melody in the intro. Makes me so proud to be a Geordie. Mark's guitar tone gives me a lump in my throat, it sounds like home.

This is just fabulous. I saw Mark and his band during his "Tracker" tour and was astonished by his evolution since his Dire Straits days. He's always had a powerful stage presence, but has become so comfortable as a frontman he creates an intimacy that feels like he's playing in a small club. The level of musicianship throughout the band and the array of instruments they supply delivers virtually any ambiance asked of them. It's like being bathed in a warm glow of sound and joy. And then there's the vocals...as John Prine would say, "oh baby!"

It is the first time I hear a MK show and I am having the same feeling and enjoyment. An out-of-fashion former rock-star touring with his fellow friends, turns out just marvelous. Come to Argentina, MK; from here we are round-a-corner to Asunción del Paraguay!
