Well... I am 68... and I bow before a master guitarist and performer. Here is a man whose artistic genius precedes all else and he makes it happen in a way that few modern musicians can match... Just because the "would-bees" or could-bees" must mesmerize their audience in so many complex ways that perhaps much is lost in their great efforts! Yet there are amazing "Bees" out there that are absolutely incredible! It is just that sometimes we need to slow down a little... smell the coffee and dig this kind of music!

I don't suppose Mark ever gets to read any comments on these posts - but I busked Cordoba for a winter in the mid 80's - fantastic place - I loved it so much - was just a couple of years amy be less after seeing him playing live in the Roman Amphitheatre in Orange - First time I ever hear Romeo and Juliette. We'd heard the original dire straits album when we lived in Shetland just a few weeks after it was released. It blew out minds. WE set off travelling with our baby not so very very long after and never heard hide nor hair of much recorded music for a while. Roea and Juliette sort of cemented hima s genius in my head - he comes across as such a beautiful man - and a bloody genius of a musician - he's still doing it and please - don't stop!

I owe my tastes in music to this guy. My dad has always been a fan, and I grew up with Alchemy and Brothers and all the rest. What an incredible influence Mark, and all of Dire Straits, has been on shaping music... I am 49 now, and this is still as relevant and evocative as it was when I was a child. Simply amazing.

I am 56 years old. On May 1, 1985, I was in military service in Israel. It was clear to me that I'm going to the Dire Straits show. I had to flee from the military camp I was at, to attend the concert in Tel Aviv. I'll never forget that magical evening. I was later sentenced to 21 days in jail. God.... it was worth every second in prison. Thank you dear Mark. May God bless you in good health Thank you forever

Great story, fantastic talent, beautiful music. Most don't know Knopfler or Dire Straits beyond what has been on the radio. My how brilliance and flowing ardor has passed them by. For the record, I love Israel and its people. How brave and forbearing the Jews have been for the last century. May the Lord watch over you always.

One of the best songs ever written (and an incredibly hard one to play). And it's fascinating to see how it's been changing and evolving throughout the years as the musician who created it changed and evolved himself, but one thing has always been unchanged - Mark's amazingly unique guitar playing style. And as this version proves - don't let anyone think he got slower or worse at 70 - quite the opposite I think.

I have listened to this song many times over the past 38 years. The part about everywhere closing down has never resonated as strongly as now: Covid 19, Lockdown, and most places closed. As I write, we are coming OUT of Lockdown. Half the shops open have no stock to sell, as suppliers are not back-up, or, in places, have gone bust, despite being profitable. Run out of money. Sad times. Bad times for many. May you and yours "Stay Safe."

What a pleasure listening that marvellous sound. Mark and band brilliant in this intimate version of "Telegraph road". This was the song with which I became an unconditional fan when I listen to Dire Straits first, when I was 16 years old. Now I'm in my 50's and this song, Mark Knopfler and all his songs since that moment accompany me and they're the soundtrack of every day in my life. We're going to miss him at his live concerts, no doubt, but we will always have his songs to enjoy!

Not even close to Dire Straits! I don’t believe there is anyone who can even come close to putting together anything like Mark Knopfler and the band. Anytime from their beginning to the last performance, in their last tour, at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY 2019. Mark was 71 I believe and still sounding AMAZING! No one can come close to covering his talent or the shows he and his band(s) did over all those years, right to the very last one. And, I’m not too sure that there won’t be more appearances after Covid lifts? I wouldn’t be at all surprised.......They gave something to this world that just can’t be duplicated.🎸

I have been listening to Dire Straits since the age of 15, and I'm 52 now. Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler were my warm musical friend in times of darkness and joy, and are still giving me a tremendous joy every time. Thank you Mr. Knopfler for giving us so much.

Mark Knopfler is to guitar music what Lionel Messi is to football. There were great players before them & there are great players today but Knopfler & Messi gave us talent with another dimension.

Well, I am almost 65 years old and I have been following it since it began, back in 1978, with its famous "Sultans". And I still have not tired of listening to his music and his reviews of his best songs. I will not get tired, as long as he does not. Always Mark.

I have loved Mark since first heard him in 1978 and have probably everything he has released. Saw him live last year and I can honestly say this was not his best performance, sounds like he was under the weather - - good for him doing the show anyway.

spent my teenage years on the Gold Coast- bit of a cultural wasteland, but was fortunate enough to have a friend with good taste. my first live concert was Dire Straits, feel super privileged to have seen these guys live at such a young age. ( and totally forgive them for twisting by the pool! lol) What a legend/shaman/ soul man Mark Knopfler is! All time fave is Telegraph road and Romeo and Juliet.

Many years ago I was sitting at home, depressed. No money, lousy job, and all. My then girlfriend came home, she had bought me the Sultans of Swing LP (yeah, it's that long ago 😊 ) to cheer me up. It worked! All went uphill from there. Thanks, Mark and friends!

There is at least 15-20 live versions of this song on YT. Watch all of them and see how he tells a completely different story in each of the outro solos. That's what I call musicianship. As he is getting older, the stories are softer, warmer and more intimate, full of love. He is one of the greatest composer AND performer of our doomed century. Also his fellow musicians are always great.

thought he was on to do it all acoustic at the begining.. and said to myself "let's see.." but well he didn't. I think it would have been wonderful anyway, had he done it .. yes your comment is good! as for brothers (his two most beautiful and iconic songs) every time it's a new way of telling the story! and every time it's as good as the previous, whereas different.. "brothers" is maybe the most beautiful, but this one is the most powerful (song of all times)
