You should seek out the original podcasts from which these interviews are taken Unfortunately the hosts of this Channel (who are not not Mark Lewisohn) do not provide information about these sources, but try ... I Am The EggPod, Nothing Is Real, The Word Podcast, Something About The Beatles, Fabcast and others. Mark has appeared on them all so there is more to discover.

Mark is correct when he says that nursery rhyme type lyrics continued with British prog rock into the 1970s. North American prog tended to be more sci-fi orientated, I believe.

Gun Of A Preacher Man - he will use swear words when quoting interviewees or characterizing, for example, what any of the Beatles may have been thinking at any given time.

Mark is a literate and educated man, and as with most of those who have a great pallet of colors to choose from in conversation or writ, he has no need to use swear words unless they are the most truthful or authentic words to describe with. I don’t think there’s a conscious rejection of any particular words for Mark, he simply chooses to use the most descriptive and most accurate words to tell his story. There’s no rejection of language on Mark’s part though. He’s telling us the story of The Beatles as accurately as possible. If a ‘curse’ word is the most accurate one to use in a given description, he’s going to use it. He’s a historian, not a moral authority of some sort.
