So nice to see Mark asserting his Devo-ness.

Mark Mothersbaugh is a GENIUS I so want to meet this guy it's unbelievable.The other Devo members are great but Mark to me is the main man.
@pinksquare13 жыл бұрын
Mothersbaugh acts pissed off but he actually took the guy's advance. In the movie the French horns are gone and it's much more electronic-sounding.

He´s not just a great singer, a great musician or even a great composer. He DOES ACT and he´s also a GREAT COMEDIAN. That´s why i´m a great fan of his and his bandmates, since the now distant 1984. I had the GREAT PLEASURE AND HONOR of talking to him over the phone. I hope DEVO never retires. The world needs them more and more EVERY SINGLE F***ING DAY! ; )

@@Chaseoman sorry that I'm late to the party. In the early '80 Mark would give advice on the uses of Energy Domes on TV talks show's. The one caveat being never use them to bake cakes. Then he'd stomp a Dome.

Well put. And an instrument with faults can be repaired easier than fabricating a new one from scratch. I’m a Pete Townsend fan but not overjoyed when someone destroys a musical instrument. There are WAY more entertaining things to watch. 🎸 🔥

oh for sure, I can understand that. Although I disagree about certain classical pieces (I'm a crossover musician too), I totally get what you're saying from an improvisational point of view as a means of personal expression. Thanks for the clarity - it just didn't make sense to me. I can understand lots of people dislike classical music, it just didn't quite jive with the "he's a genius" concept LoL. Cheers :-D

he's a genius but classical music sucks? yet he's a major classical composer now who's embraced it and studied it at a very high level... so I don't quite follow how you could feel he's a genius if you think classical music sucks. Just saying. He IS a genius for certain. From the first note Devo performed to the last note of his latest classical soundtrack, everything is brilliant :-)

@rnrbishop yes sure Bishop.. they were mistaken for punks for a long time but their actual background is somewhat different from punk ...punk is about rebellion and refusal of society and conventions.... Devo is something totally different, is opening eyes on what's generally avoided by common human beings .... is realizing accepting the human's status as a puppet ..and realizing that "Rebellion" only turns a puppet into an unaware one ...

smashing instruments here is not intended as punk usually did, that is mere destruction ... what's done here is not actually destroying them but "modifying" them ..... ... of course a la Mothersbaugh .. :)

Why did he flip out that badly? What did Christopher Miller tell him that would make him go into that kind of rage?
