Mark of the Beast

There is probably not a more provocative topic to cover than the Mark of the Beast. It has been requested more than any other topic. But it is really different than nearly any other topic. If you take something like the temple in Jerusalem or the 2 witnesses or nearly any other 2nd coming or last days topic and you can find there are many references in scripture. There are many prophets and apostles that have talked about it. And from those sources we can better understand those topics. This is not such a topic.
There are only a few places in scripture that even mention it and all of them are part of John the Revelators Apocalyptic writings in the book of Revelation which can be difficult to wade between what is symbolic and what is real. Apostles and Prophets haven't discussed it much in public, recorded forums. The guide to the scriptures, topical guide and bible dictionary are silent. And the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints has no official position on what it is. So this leaves us with a few verses and the surrounding context of the book of Revelation to make any sense this subject other than a few student manuals I'll reference later. In fact, if you want a formula on figuring out the odds of misunderstanding the interpretation of a prophesy, [click] you can take the number of references to that specific thing found in scripture and divide it by the number of Google results you get on that same topic. Now that's a little facetious but you get my point. So what does scripture say about the Mark of the Beast?

I noted that the symbolism of the forehead and hand as indicative of that which we choose to do and think. We mark ourselves such as with the case of the Amlicites following in forbidden courses or keep ourselves pure (with the Savior's assistance and strengthening of course).

Very interesting commentary. Sis Nelson said to listen carefully to the prophet when he speaks "from the pulpit". We must be careful to remember Pres Nelson's admonition to "Hear Him" and to "Come Follow Him" meaning of course, to follow the Savior and to listen to the Holy Ghost. There seem to be members who have begun worshipping the prophet. They are taking the easy route by not praying for confirmation from the Lord as to what He would have them do in certain circumstances. I don't like the terminology to walk "in lock step". The Apostles and First Presidency all discuss situations, pray and discuss.l again. "Let us reason together." We have been taught by the prophet, from the pulpit that we need to refine our ability to hear the Holy Ghost. (Paraphrasing).

Yes, for example the maker of this video tells us we don't have any direction about what John describes as the beast in Revelation or how to mark what it is. A short investigation proves that Joseph Smith himself revealed exactly what the beast found clearly in "the teachings of the prophet." He said to avoid contention it is necessary that it be known. John describes the kingdoms of Daniel as beasts but, "I say it is instead the inhabitants of those worldly kingdoms who are evil and abominable characters full of murder and hate and every act of carnality."Joseph reveals the beast to be man's carnal nature that destroys the earth right in a general conference as recorded forever more. The same carnal nature that destroyed the nephites. The natural man is the beast who is 666. Why has this been entirely overlooked by millions of saints including the man in the above video? Here is the greatest mystery in the entire church. Joseph revealed what millions are trying to figure out from the Bible for 2000 years now. Clearly Christ already gave John the Revelation of Jesus Christ as he titled it right in the title itself in Revelation one. General.authorities are very busy sometimes not having time to ask God every question spreading out there. Obviously the blacks in the priesthood took years to finally get around to asking God to clarify it. John in the Bible clearly says a man ( hardly recognized ) will decode the 666 by using math not revelation. Jesus already gave John the timelines and numbers to calculate. Challenging someone to count it up! "Verse 18" Obviously John asks everyone to let or (allow) this man to decode the math pertaining to this. "Revel. 13:18" Perhaps church members expect a prophet to do the math and not someone simply able to understand the math? John however warns that the understanding of this question only will only come by "HIM" who has the right mathematical understanding to decode this. "Revelation 13:18" Thereby not needing a new Revelation from Christ because Jesus already gave John the codes and clues to resolve his Revelation already. ​@@paulgregersen3570 Joseph Smith and you seem to have made the same error with prophecy. Revelation gives about 12 clues as to the identity of the Antichrist beast. That's like getting a room full of people, asking them to stand up, asking women to sit down, asking bald men to sit down, asking men under 40 to sit down etc. Every clue narrows the field. In prophecy it either fit's everything perfectly or it's wrong. Daniel is the key to unlocking Revelation. The beasts in Daniel describe the powers of the time. They exactly match the metal man too. 1798 saw the wound of one beast and the acknowledgement of the new one rising. Please watch a video by Hope through prophecy called the little horn power. Study each clue and fact provided and it'll make everything clearer. They also have a video on the mark of the beast. Once you know how to identify the beast, you'll understand their mark of authority better. Another mistake people make is the gand and forehead are symbolic for our actions and thoughts. This video is good in that he's cautious and uses reasoning, but unfortunately he hasn't studied Daniel or he'd be able to see the links with the 1st beast in revelation and the 4th beast in Daniel. The 2nd beast in revelation is the USA.

I find greater clarity when I study the mark of God, given to the righteous who keep the commandments of God. Same words, hand or forhead (frontlets between eyes). So often we try to decide how we're going to avoid getting the mark of the beast, when in reality we need to ask what God wants us to be doing. It is clear in Deuteronomy 11, we need to keep the commandments of God to receive God's mark upon us. Deuteronomy 11:18 ¶ Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.

Excellent, tempered analysis. A tiny bit of further speculation: the very first Apple computer sold (well documented) was $666. The Steve’s (Jobs and Wozniak) just “picked a random number and thought it was funny” according to them. Probably was innocently motivated, but it is interesting that the mark is “the number of a man” or in other words a number according to our monetary system. Anyway, since that computer (in part) kicked off the popular computer revolution I think the “mark” will be a technologically based thing of some sort, made possible by computers. Anyway, who knows. So thrilled we have a prophet to follow.

If you follow JESUS CHRIST, then you should have faith, repent of your sins and be baptized by one having authority, then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands, also by one having authority. These things were done by those in the early church and, as you may know, they have been restored in our day. Jesus said that those who believe _and are baptized_ will be saved, and those who _don't believe_ will be damned. Thus one may surmise that both faith and works (like baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit and living righteously).

@@ryanmozert» I don't think I'm anyone's priest, Ryan, but I am a respondent to your comments. As far as the Trinity is concerned, I've yet to find anything in the scriptures that mentions it. But if you believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and that they are one in purpose, then yes, you won't get any argument here. Latter-day Saints believe the Bible, but we have other scriptures that point the way to Christ. All prophets and all scripture point the way to him. As his emissaries, we preach faith in Christ, repentance, and baptism of water and the gift of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands by those having authority. Only through these things can one be saved and gain Eternal Life.

Those who are not against Christ are for him. Keep the peace please. I met a woman who was healed by a televangelist. She told me she heard him on tv and felt so compelled to touch the tv to be healed by him. She crawled on the floor with just her two arms and got the strength to touch the preacher through the tv and was healed. It was evident she couldnt walk beforehand because she still had the motorized scooter in her livingroom and the pile of doctor bills on her coffee table. I thought, this must've been done by the power of Satan. No, I was wrong. This woman had enough faith to be healed, her beliefs, whether right or wrong didn't matter, she had faith as large as the woman who touched Christ's garment.

A little dangerous to say that the giver of the blessing is wrong, it causes distrust in the liders and patriarchs of the church. I believe our interpretation is what is usually wrong not the patriarch. Our patriarchal blessing should be read as a personal scriptures, so just like reading any scriptures we need the help of the Holy Ghost and read the blessing in spirit of prayer. We also should focus more in the warnings and responsibilities in order to receive each blessing, is easy to focus in the promise and forget the conditions upon the promise will be received.

I have studied this topic in great depth since 1973. I have taken many classes too. The mark is physical. Satan cannot force the mark upon you, but the antichrist will impose great hardship on those who do not accept it (at first). Later on, those who refuse will be beheaded for not denying Jesus. I was very surprised, after joining our Church, we teach very little of the Book of Daniel and Revelation where most end time scripture is explained.

Yes, C.B. You're quite correct that our faith doesn't study these things and I believe I know why, in four words: The Antichrist Is Islam. First, I'm utterly convinced that the prophets Ezekiel (38-39) and Zechariah (12-14) are describing the same event (Armageddon). Ezekiel tells us the nations that will attack Israel (Ezekiel 38:5-6) Second, while this will be an issue faced by the saints abroad (depending on their whereabouts), the saints in the Western Hemisphere will not be affected. The Bible tends to be, in the words of Joel Richardson, primarily Jerusalem-centric, and while we in the United States tend to think of ourselves as the center of everything, we simply aren't. (We have the Book of Mormon and the D&C for that.) The reason we don't teach what the Antichrist is is because we can't do missionary work to the Muslims if we're teaching ourselves and others that their religion is the Antichrist, even if it's true.

The antichrist is anything that goes against Christ. I don’t believe it is a person more of a movement that started centuries ago with Pagan, Esoteric, Mysticism, and other belief systems that are against God. They have grown and infiltrated churches everywhere. If you are following Christ you are staying away from these types of belief systems. The mark of the beast is not visible. You can already buy and sell as long as you have money. This has nothing to do with the Muslim community. It has to do with being deceived. Daniel and Revelations go hand in hand and the mark of the beast is already here.

Love your videos! May I add something interesting I’ve recently found during my studies- Brigham Young, Wilford Woodruff and a few others taught that the NAME of the Beast (666) has reference to the number of false religions in the world. It is also likely symbolic in that it is ever short of perfection (the number 7) as you stated. Very interesting. I’ve often wondered what will become of the religions of the world, and why faith in Christ/God seems prophesied to be attacked and wain greatly before the second coming of Christ (as Joseph Fielding Smith taught in DoS). Further, I tend to reflect on what is meant in relation to the recent prophecy of President Nelson, that “In the coming days it will NOT BE POSSIBLE to survive spiritually without the constant, comforting and giving influence of the Holy Ghost.” Anyway, God bless and may we all keep our faith bright and strong!

I believe you're right Chris, I pretty much feel the same. The world is one God we don't want to follow but the separation will be extremely tough for some and not too hard for others that have been preparing themselves mentally and listening to president Nelson. By being mainly focus and moving closer to the Lord and holding on to the spirit. The spirit of the Lord and even the Holy Ghost will be like our crutches in our Journey. We will have to solely depend on the spirit of guidance and direction and to me this is more important than trying to figure out things I don't know just yet , they will come automatically in time if we continue to stay humble and pray. At this time many things are unknown to each of us and later they will be revealed to each of us personally if we desire it , we do all that we can do, the gift of the spirit will be there if we keep trying to Live and follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I have learned that following the prophet sometimes means following the Spirit as we are given to understand what the prophet is really saying. Many times there are layers of meaning and the counsel is veiled so as to protect the church.

What I have found surprising is that there is a segment of church membership that takes the stance on this topic and others, "If the Brethren aren't talking about it then it isn't going to happen, because surely they would warn us." The title of the book is "The Revelation of Jesus Christ given to John" Joseph Smith said it was the plainest book that he has ever read. I giggled at your comparisson of going from 3 to 2 hour church. Many missed the point and the need to study at home! My 14 year old is taking online seminary. I think hed like to go back to an extra hour weekly at church! We also read the chapters in titles for the modules!! There wasnt time for the world! I compare my seminary experiance and when my husband taught, and call it sissy seminary. You could sleep through class and pass! This is not the same world as my high school days three decades ago. And since we did New Testament I'll use the comparisson from there, of putting on "Your Armor of God". Weve been off a week and we absolutely are changed! We started a movie last night and stopped it. There is less tolerance for the world! When you have worked to wear that armor, you are used to the work of wearing the armor! I agree with your commentary. One way Church members don’t follow the prophet is on politics. Both on what to vote on or not and things like no contention. There is too much speculation on many topics among the Church. There is too much criticism of our Church leaders and not enough obedience to what we know we should be doing. As Elder Holland noted, The Lord runs his Church with imperfect people. We are also imperfect in our knowledge and understanding of the scriptures. You mentioned the division in the Church on following the prophet. I’ve noticed that also. We know things are going to get worse before the Second Coming. We should all be more concerned about following the Lord through the prophet and less judgmental about others or topics we know little about

There has been such a religious fervor as of late. And even though i am a member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints i sometimes find myself feeling the same way as Joseph Smith did. Everyone has an opinion. Even the leaders of the church have an opinion and not everything they say at the pulpit is thus saith the Lord. So really the only authoritive word on these things is the spirit. Not the prophet or apostles or religious scholars. Its actually very daunting and brings discouragement and disliking for religion in general. It is very difficult for me but what i try to do is silence all the opinions and voices, even the general authorities, and try to hear what the spirit is trying to teach me. How do i feal? There is an explanation, but it is not a short one. Watch Mark Woodman's old video, "Who is the Antichrist". He presents 21 points from the Bible which together can only describe one entity. Identifying the beast first more easily leads to understanding his mark. People divide themselves into two classes before Christ's return; those with the mark and those who keep the commandments of God. See Rev.12:17, 14:12, 22:14. The angel's message of Rev.14:7 is very similar to Exod.20:11, the Sabbath commandment. This commandment is the one most ignored by Christianity.

While I agree with your statements at face value, I also think it important to recognize that we are indeed drawing ever nearer to the end. After all, that is the reason He provided us with those signs, so that we would be able to recognize them when the time came. On that basis, I also think that while establishing and maintaining a strong relationship with Christ is by far the highest priority, and that paying close attention to what the president of the Church says is also important, we do need also to recognize the characteristics of the mark of the beast. In other words, drop all the speculation (as you said) regarding the technology and whatever, and just look at the application of it. The prophecy is that the mark of the beast will be used as a criterion to determine whether or not you can buy and sell things. That one aspect is sufficient clarity, in my opinion. We're already being subjected to the normalization process leading up to that. First, it was applied to what they called "vaccine passports", and now they're beginning to apply it to new things already, but still connected to their "medicines" and things. Isn't that abundantly clear to tell us that whenever they start talking about requiring *anything* in order to buy and sell goods, that we can recognize it as a bad idea? It doesn't matter to what technology it may be tied, or to what condition of any kind. As soon as you hear the suggestion that *anything* be used as a condition for buying and selling throughout the world, you can recognize that it is evil. The obvious extension of that, as well as everything we've learned from our own lives and from the records we now hold as scripture, tell us that absolutely anything they try to force on the entire population is most likely going to be bad. These things are clear to us, and we need to be consciously aware of them, as we live our lives, as we seek confirmations from the Spirit and so on.

As you were taking about having the Lord's Seal on their forehead, I was remembering what I learned about in the Old Testament with regards to a Levite Priest receiving his Covenant. A new Priest will have the blood of the sacrifice in his right ear, right thumb, and right big toe. A Levite Priest will also wear a golden plate on his forehead with the Words "Holiness to the Lord". In a similar way, Jesus Christ, the Ultimate Eternal Sacrifice, covers over our sins as we repent, through His Atonement. Similarly with the Levites in Ancient times, we make Covenants with God and will be covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. Also, whenever we enter into a Temple, whether during a Dedication or for services in the Temple, each building has the inscription "Holiness to the Lord". I believe that as we choose to follow God, we can be like the Ancient Levites who were covered by the LORD symbolicly, and Spiritually through the Jesus Christ's Atonement. And as we actively and worthily enter the House of the Lord, we can serve in Holiness to the Lord.

Because the prophet is not guiding us in every detail of our life, we need the Holy Ghost, and many times make our own decisions because the HG won’t help us in everything either. I love this video so much for so many reasons. While I don’t know what the mark of the beast will be, I know that a loving Father in Heaven won’t make it hard for us to figure out when the time comes. It will be clear to us, whether literal or symbolic. We will not have to question or speculate “is this it?”. Those who accept the mark of the beast (who are members of the church) will have an open knowledge of the choice and choose to follow the world over the latter day prophet.

I wonder how clear it will be when we are warned that even the very elect will be deceived. I believe having the type of personal revelation President Nelson has warned us to develop, even "to seek to be taught by the Lord himself" is key to enduring when the time comes. What if it comes so subtly we don't recognize we are in a pot of boiling water until it's too late. The influence of Babylon and worldly culture is in every home already. There's even a segment of church members that want to bring worldly influences into the temples. Persecution, even from church members come from holding the line and not allowing the world's influence into sacred ordinances. The only sign that we are not there yet is the intense persecution that will fall on those that stand strong hasn't happened. Having your life taken will be an act of mercy compared to what will fall upon those who will need to endure the wine press. A mere testimony will not be enough, as it will seem as though God has abandoned the Saints during this period. To end on a positive note, for those who will not be shaken, the refining fire will produce the type of Saints who ascended with Enoch in that great city. A people truly prepared and purified to receive the Lord at His second coming. The challenge is to become such a person now, before we are "compelled". To become redeemed from the fall while in this life. And that takes a level of belief few people have, and requires a price even fewer are willing to pay.

I think I should clarify that for those who have a solid foundation in the gospel and are truly converted to the Lord on their hearts, we will be able to see the “mark of the beast” clearly when that time comes. And I also believe that there will be others who have yet to find the gospel, but love God fully in their hearts who will be drawn closer to the Church at that time because they will recognize the “mark of the beast” perhaps not fully what it is but that it’s something against God. However, like you said, there will be many members of the church (the very elect) and even outside who have not the word of God written on their hearts and mind who will be deceived because they did not do the work to develop a strong testimony and keep it going (like the women and oil lamps parable). I guess my point is that if we can truly say in our hearts that we are doing everything we can to build our foundation strong in Christ and His gospel, we shouldn’t live in fear of mistakenly choosing the “mark of the beast” when that time comes. We have to remember that God loves us and WANTS us to success. We just need to do our part to continually strengthen our testimony and knowledge base in the gospel.

I don’t know, I know a sister who is very faithful, but anytime I comment about how incredible it is that the prophecy that the last days would be shortened for the elect’s sake is being fulfilled before our eyes she says “oh time just goes by faster as you get older” I don’t think that means she won’t be prepared but I do think when what is coming becomes undeniable it will really come as a shock. The mark of the beast is an applied to those in America. The reason why if I was given the portion of Isaiah and the portion of revelations that was used in the book of Mormon was because those portions apply directly to America and the other portions apply to the rest of the world. Therefore, before the mark of the beast as he been implemented in the world, we will already have redeemed in the new Jerusalem, and the saints of god will already have been gathered there.

This video has stirred up a lot of stuff here Mr.Prince! However like you said in many instances we need to be like Adam in - In saying - I know not save the Lord commanded me! So many times the answer to a scripture can be found IN the scripture I have found, And like you stated, you need to go back and read Daniel - Ezekiel and Isaiah. And having the blessing of God talking to us again in our day. Read Joseph Smith writings - D & C - Book of Mormon and the Oracles of God - Apostles and Prophets of today! It takes a lot of discipline I tell ya! Not to speculate. And then to Trust God to reveal just what He means about things there in. With that being said, I venture to say the Mark -sealed in our heads - whether it be God's Mark or the Beast. It has to be with Priesthood or Political power. If you worship God and his Son Jesus Christ the Mark you receive is Baptism and the Gift of the Holy Ghost - by the laying on of hands by God's Priesthood Authority. The Political Mark - you receive by whatsoever will be the designation- a special card - registering with a government entity - as a supporter of the same. You will strongly identify with either a Political power or give your allegiance to it! Hense in your forehead -your thoughts and ideology. Your hand -is your works your efforts! Or you will identify with God and His Son and the Gospel will occupy your thoughts - Forehead above all things. Your hands -works and efforts will be Jesus based. These are just my humble thoughts on the matter. As for the Number 666 the movies have pretty much sealed our minds up on it? However, Daniel seems to say to us that he is a man! A human being! Though he will do great miracles along with his false prophet - he will still be nothing but a man! So the answer of 666? God is showing us His scientific understanding, I think! Because we will be science rooted at that time! Look at AI how it is being advanced? We will have so little trust in ANYTHING that we will be ripe for the Anti -Christ and his prophet! A scientific clue God gave can be found in 666 - I think -though the true interpretation will be revealed by God Chosen Prophet - I am taking a personal liberty to say It is just what God said a man! Science says man broken down to his most base being. Man is made of carbon, which has 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons. 666 is the number of a man! Just like God said. I for one like Adam says - I know not save the Lord has revealed somethings to John the revelator! He has not yet made clear to me just what He means and this being the case. God Is Not Dead nor doth He sleep as the song says. So I will wait and ask of Him just what He means!
