Of course he has to audition. However i think his relationship to acting is very method; only he does it for potentially popular tv shows/sitcoms and it's kind of unexpected and maybe not advertised this way. And of course many were short- lived. Maybe if he ended up in a Netflix or Amazon Prime mini-series, he could finally blow up. What's sure is he's a serious actor.

Lmao it never dawned on me that James van der bek(?) looks like him. He looks great here btw…the best I’ve seen him in awhile. He looks just like he did but he got older and his hair is now dirty blonde. Ok it’s probably grey now and he dyes it brown but whatever…he looks good. He got that Botox no Botox look goin on. The reboot didn't bring back the OG characters. Oh, but they did bring back the OG cast. Seriously. The OG cast is a parody. It's interesting to see them, but they just aren't anything similar. It'd be real hard for others to agree to admit that Zack Morris was more mature and aware in the OG show than today's more woke iteration.

Cuz money. Imagine this dudes life. He's a legit actor, has the look etc. but the business decides "nah ur Zach Morris. Too typecast u will never be anything else". They get underpaid, and he has to fight and claw for every trivial role he has ever had. He can't go be a regular person cuz he's fkng Zach Morris lol. Remember, he accepted this role as a child, with likely no say in the matter, and no concept of how this would hang over him for the rest of his life. Meanwhile Dicaprio is on growing pains and becomes the biggest star on the planet. Why do you think Elizabeth Berkley did a soft core porn movie right after lol, they were desperate to show they were more than SBTB The dude is like 45, with kids and he's still showing up to these things and being a pro. He does the podcast (with the literal guy who wrote Zach Morris is trash lol), it was his idea to do the Fallon thing, he has clearly tried to make peace with it all and poke fun at himself. He is cordial and deferential to these (sometimes weird) people who worship this goofy 30 year old show that both gave him AND sort of ruined his career. He acknowledges the terrible offensive stuff on the old show and he's even doing a damn reboot of this thing for the fans. Give the guy a break lol.

@@darnellmajor9016 I think the Zach Morris Character was just too much of a pop culture reference. DiCaprios Character wasn't as central, or popular, or iconic. He was able to transcend the role much easier. I can't even remember his characters name, meanwhile Zach Morris was a household name particularly in the 90s. This dude is a good actor honestly, he's gotten a LOT better over the years. Dicaprio may have been a better actor at the time, but mostly it was just hard to see him as anything other than Zach Morris for people. Best he could get was Deadman on campus afterwards lol. I'm sure he would have loved to land Gilbert Grape, or Basketball diaries etc. No way they were gonna cast Zach Morris in those rolls though haha
