can we appreciate how researched and deep Metallica's subjects and lyrics are? I love how their lyrics are about psychology and inside thoughts. metallica is mostly focused on inside unlike Megadeth and many other bands.

Completely agree. And I think James' maturity as a songwriter is really on full display in the first four tracks from this new album.

I love the short accents and main riff. The chorus reminds me of the best of Bad Religion and those other cali punk bands from the 80's and 90's. NOFX, Lagwagon et al. Trujillo's bass is thundering! and The King In Yellow is awesome!!

@Like Minded Lunatics Production chambers is outstanding. I got into him after watching the 1st season of True Detective. With some of his stories he's like Jules Verne able to see into the future socially. And 72 Seasons is the best of the 4. Those short accents remind me of Ride.

That's awesome! I'm so glad that show shined a light onto his work. It's really overlooked as far as cosmic horror is concerned. I don't know if it'll interest you, and this is an older video, but I did a reaction to "Black Hole Sun," and I tried to make the case in it that the video is essentially a Lovecraftian horror. I think "Screaming Suicide" might be my favorite so far, but it's really high bar. All four tracks have been awesome. I can't wait to see them in Aug.

FYI The Warning has started to release pro shot live recordings of performances from their biggest solo show to date from Mexico City last August, on their KZbin channel, so if you would be interested to see how they are live with Enter Sandman and Disciple, both have been released.

Hi Mark, great reaction as always. This beer you drink is a "Kölsch", a very tasty special kind of brew that's only made in Cologne, the Capital of German Carneval, and which is served in long slim glasses, a unique form of glass < that's why people sometimes make fun of it and call them "Reagenzglas" > "Test Tube" 😂🤣. The new song is another great one < this 72 Seasons - album seems to me like the best work Metallica have done in a very long time - their masterpiece 😍 Or, like I said before, their "Opus Magnus". I very much appreciate your text analysis. You are right, this one is darker - again with complex thoughts which go deep. I guess it will be interesting to listen to the whole album and put each lyric in relation to one another to get an overall context 🤓 Can't wait for it! Greetings from Germany!

"This beer you drink is a "Kölsch" I love Kölsch so much. I'm sure I've told you, but my wife and I have been to Germany several times, and Kölsch was probably my favorite beer style. We actually have a lot of German and Czech immigrants here in Texas. My material great-grandparents were actually from what was then Czechoslovakia, and a lot of our local breweries are really influenced by that past. They aren't as good as the ones in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, but close. Yeah, I've loved all four tracks of this new album. There's a real maturity to the lyrics that I'm loving. And next week we're publishing a Ladi's Rockucation where I show our friend Ladi "Sad But True" and let him work his way through the lyrics. I'm editing it now, and I think it's a great episode. I get a bit of the same vibe I got from Spit Out The Bone on the last album, that this track is a bit of an "F U" to the haters who think they can't do it anymore :) Overall I think it's a really cool song, though I think of the four we've gotten I'd still put Screaming Suicide as my personal favorite. I just love the groove of that one. I do think this one will get a great crowd response when they play it live, with everyone calling out the "Wrath.. Of.. Man!" during the chorus.

Yeah. Totally agree with you. I think of the four we've got, this is probably the weakest, and I don't mean weak overall. By itself, this would be a kickass tune, but in comparison to the others I don't know if it's as strong. And yeah, we're seeing them in August, and I can't wait to scream out the Wrath of Man bit!

It's an okay song. Basically spit out the hardwired moth. All recycled ideas but for 60 year olds it's to be expected.
