What a Great Natural rider! M.T. voted Rider of the Century by the F.E.I. (you can't higher than that :-) sure George Morris said, "I can't teach him anything". Mark Todd rode at the 1988 Olympics in Show Jumping (horses name: Toggi ?!!). if he had of had a very good international show jumper he would have won a medal at that Games. also Mark Todd Jumped at the 1992 Olympic Games (show jumping). as well as riding in the 3-day-eventing Comp.

The horse an rider make a fabulous team. The horse knew he had to stay smooth for him and did, and didn't even flinch when Mark brought his leg up high on the horse's back, and Mark did a splendid job on his own. Great team work by both of them. Well done team.

Where is Mark's commentary? In his usual modest style does he have nothing to say? (Apart from : "wonderful horse, he gave me a good ride.") I've searched for evidence of this rider feat, I was there with my jolly good team of Sue Hill and Willowbrook Lad and it does move one to experience partnership like theirs. In my adventure filled life meeting these top riders are right at the top of reverant moments. Long live the spirit of man and horse. pobdragon

@emilienatalie8635
@emilienatalie8635 7 жыл бұрын
Oakleaf700 Yes but these things can still happen. Even professional riders can have faulty tack or have their stirrups slip off the side.
@Oakleaf700
@Oakleaf700 7 жыл бұрын
Oakbark tanned stirrup leathers are the best..I had some made by a saddler but people tend to ride at the same length, so the wear on the same part does need keeping an eye on. Grooms of pro riders would be [or should be] checking such things as a matter of course..the forces on leathers over jumps like this are extreme..stirrup leathers sliding out is more frequent than snapping..But a friend had a brand new set of racing reins on his horse that morning, his horse got the reins caught , mare flung her head up and 3/4'' wide reins [British made] snapped ]reins had to be chucked out, as repaired reins aren't allowed in racing . Horse was ok [just waiting in her stable before riding out] so it happens.

In his autobiography he said he was trying to get up off the horses back, because you'd normally do the galloping stretches in two point. Unfortunately BB did indeed get spun the next day with a slightly sore back, because there's only so much you can do with one stirrup!

@@lanalevin4851 you wouldn't go into a light seat without stirrups. It really all depends on the horse and rider and how they perform together.
