Tbh even though it reminds of the old Power Core Combiners drones, where arms become arms, and legs become legs. I still don't like it tbh. it's cool that they can do this, but I'll still skip superion and most likely menasor.

It's a partial Scramble City to be honest. Leg Bots and Arm Bots aren't switching limbs, even if they switch torsos. But I'm fine with that, these are my more accurate ones, not my fiddle formers.

Scramble City style is dope imo if only because it opens things up for crazy combos Now it's just a matter of time til they release the right toys so I can make computron out of Grimlock instead of Scattershot

The scramble city isnt something I care about but its nice for the people who really wanted it to be able to. The part I like is that you can turn the legs around to have the jets/cars facing the front. I'll probably keep it animation accurate but options are great. now i wonder what the haters are going to use as an excuse to hate on the transformers from hasbro

Honestly I doubt this will sway the haters, they'll just say it's not REAL Scramble City since the arms and legs can't be swapped or something but it's a neat feature I do hope if they keep the skeleton blueprint for Bruticus and Defensor that they at least hide it a little more

I wonder how many of those people who complain he is not a true scramble city always put their combiners in stock configuration. How many of those people who complain about skeleton just put their combiners in combined mode forever for display and don't even care about individual bots.

Sometimes when messing with my combiners I use the scramble city play pattern for a bit before reverting to standard configuration for display. Where it really shined was in combiner Wars. I'm actually going to exploit the system using potp inferno to make a combiner of my own using unused limb bots like Jazz and ricochet, and two of the orthia limbs. Scramble city enables me to experiment and find a configuration i like rather than be locked to one specific way to combine. Options are always best. Less options is almost always bad, the exceptions being when the sacrifices needed to implement the options is too much to make.

I think it’s okay honestly, the only issue I have with it is how they couldn’t even do openable fingers and the inconsistent silver and gray faces they give to their g1 figures.

The only aspect I don't too much care for is kibble storage for unused parts while not combined, but it's not a huge issue worth ranting about. Would I prefer less "extra" pieces, especially large one like this? Yes, but I can live with it. Besides I'm more about getting updated versions of the Aerialbots themselves as I've not owned them since the original toys, personal opinion, but none of them have looked that great over the years until now. Assembling Superion is a low level secondary thought due to not having the space to display larger bots, so I'll likely only do it once in the beginning and maybe 2-3 times in my whole life. That said, to me he looks fantastic assembled! I don't really have an issue with the exoskeleton feature per say as it does add a bit of sturdiness to the combined bots, something I remember both him and Devestator having issues with in the 80's, falling apart easily. I'm just glad they're getting made and much earlier than I expected so that I can enjoy these updates before my time comes to an end. In fact, as an 80's kid, there are several bots I'd like to see redone sooner rather than later. The "scramble city" aspect doesn't even register for me, I've never been interested in that feature/gimmick.

Fifteen years from now, I doubt they will be redoing G1 again... we'll be dead and the demand won't be there... so they need to hurry up and finish the show's cast already! We'll be using the money for medication and we can't take our collections into nursing homes...

I won't say I'm a hater of the skeleton system, it has it's perks, but I find more joy in the component bots becoming the limbs, I loved that asymmetrical, megazord-style look for combiners as they look like 5 parts becoming a whole. which is why I like the combiner wars system so much. no shade or hate to those who prefer the skeleton system and its accuracy and big props to the designer team for at least making the limbs swap Power Core Combiners style. But for me, the Combiner Wars system/tradtional combiners just had more design appeal to me, especially since the vehicle kibble being on the front of menasor and superion's legs made them so much more appealing to look at

They're going for Mensasor and Superion because they are the easiest combiners to make. Literally just attach slightly transformed alt modes into the arms and legs of a larger robot. Not that complex. Studio Series Devastator is gonna be the real test of their engineering skills.

This isn't scramble city. Dragstrip HAS to be an arm. Wildrider HAS to be the leg. Sure, you can swap the arms and the legs themselves, but this isn't scramble city. It's a failed effort at it. This is yet another failure of the skeleton structure. Combiner wars yet again wins mechanically, fully implementing the scramble city play pattern. The frame system is inexcusable for superion, the designers needed to modernise the combiner wars system with current day engineering and budget, not cheap out with a frame that barely attempts to make convincing combination and fails at implementing scramble city. It's no silencer to the haters. This superion is a failure on all it's important aspects.

Honestly I'm more upset about the thought that Commander Class might be stuck with G1 Combiner Torsos, and we don't get anything like Armada Prime or Magmatron for a long time.

That's just gonna be for this year I hope. Regardless, Combiners have always been a mixed lot. You get really big characters like Skyfire/Jetfire and then you get Voyagers with accessories like Rodimus, Motormaster, Armada Optimus and now Silverbolt. And then you get exotic ones like Magmatron and Sky Lynx.

@@enrique6335 That's a possiblity, but there's a few things to consider. Scale. They want to keep everyone scaled as correctly as possible. Robot mode seems prioritized, but they didn't make Silverbolt just part of the concord, keeping it closer to the show's scale with the other Airealbots. They seem to want the skeleton parts to be seperatable in vehicle mode. Motormaster got his trailer, Silverbolt a booster, and even Hook and Longhaul have it turn into a trailer. So they may do something similier for Onslaught, and a hypothetical Hot Spot. I will say that I expect the truck cannons to possibly not end up on Onlsaught's back, but rather a different set to be used, and the big ones part of a base and for Bruticus.

I guess that is more functionality but i really dont like the frame design. I cheats way to much and this even makes the Scramble city gimmick look less interesting. I always thought that you could probably use the stunttecons for Superion because they didn't bother changing the frames design down to the legs still being backwards. Well at least people who do enjoy it can have more fun with it.

This is subjective. I personally don't like Scramble City combiner mix & match. Don't get me wrong, I don't knock anyone's preference . Hasbro needs to do like how they did in the 80's & have a large catalog that will appeal to all TF fans. I used to love that catalog when my parents bought a new TF.
