The 'something that you're excited about for the future' was my biggest problem as a young man trying to develop a career. I had no idea what I wanted to do, I was scattered and tried so many different things and there was nothing that I found that made me feel excited or made me really want to pursue it. At 45 I stumbled into coding and that has become the thing that I am excited about. It took a couple of decades to find it but I found it eventually.

@Mac Lesser 1. Search for something you find cool. 2. Look up the "tools" you need to build that thing. 3. Learn those tools (youtube is plenty). 4. Build something cool. 5. Repeat. 6. ????? 7. PROFIT!!!

Same, took me 20+ years, with at least 5 years of feeling anxious and bad about, having to know, and pick what you want to do. Failing multiple times because of that. It really s*cks, I wish all kids/teens could figure it out easier. And I really feel for all of them who are currently lost in their life, in a society where you HAVE to know and choose something and be decent at it

@@pinth well, has a lot of potential true. But it's kinda instable now imo. The jobs might really change in the next years with AI, and also the arise of eastern developers that compete with the rest. I dunno, it depends on your amibitions and your goals I guess.

Most of the things would be solved in this world if we start seeing these things as tools and have self control. Don't take advice from people who was in the right time and right place. Most people would work just as hard if they had the steps and opportunities laid out of in front of them to achieve the same great things. Mark or Elon or gates could aswell have been office workers working 9-5 jobs for minimum wage. But life just turned out better for them. The only person you should be taking advice from is yourself. You know that you are procrastinating. You know your own mind. You know when you should have said yes to that girl or that job. Only you know this. You need to listen to yourself, don't listen to these morons who don't have a clue about your life. If Elon musk had to start from scratch and he had no knowledge of business that he has built up, do you really think he would become the same person he is today? Very very very unlikely. It's opportunity. Most of you are going to become nothing in life, but that's alright, you just need to do things that make you happy so that when you are laying on your death bed, you can say to yourself that you enjoyed your time on earth.

I agree with your view of being cautious about taking advice from others people. Listening to your own wisdowm, and to the things that makes you happy is also great advice. But I also think your view on the "succesful" is too simplified. Suggesting that it is just opportunity that got them where they are at sounds like an excuse, a way to defend yourself from a hit to the ego by not taking responsibility for the fact that you may have not achieved certain things. And I am certainly not suggesting that luck and opportunity aren't big factors. But to be at the 0.001% opportunity alone doesn't cut it. It is opportunity, but also the dedication, the will to achieve and being able to make the sacrifices in time and energy and missing out on a lot of other stuff in life. You said that most people would work just as hard if they had the steps laid out and the opportunities were there. Well I personally doubt that because big sacrifices in other areas have to be made to achieve the things someone like Musk has, that's probably why he said that he isn't too sure that other people would like to live a life like him or something in that direction... You call them morons who don't have a clue about others people life, I personally don't think you have a clue about their life, and what they all did to get where they are, because I can't say that I do. I am trying to defend them, because you kind of say that they are morons who just got lucky with opportunities. But anyway I appreciate the fact that you mention that it is totally okay that you probably won't achieve as much. Acceptence can bring some peace of mind. And my apolagies if I may misinterpreted you, I'm just trying to offer some perspective.

Advice: it’s ok to steal, manipulate, and use ur algorithms for your benefit bc it’s about money not lives. Advice: the lives of young women (14-22) don’t matter. Your a thief who stole ideas and intellectual properties of your peers so the advice is that money can erase history of the truth so just be unscrupulous and money will shield your poor moral character later. I thank you Lex bc I watched bc I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but I’d really love ‘the behavioral panel’ ppl to analyze his body language for this interview. I tried and I felt that it was a lot of bs wisdom when you listen to his story w the filter of the known history. He created the platform that started ppl disconnecting from each other in person. Russia has oligarchs… The US has the same problem and he’s one of the US’s oligarchs bc we have the SAME problem. More advice (the edit)-if you create something destructive for the American ppl then make sure it has some intelligence value so the state department tolerates your existence.

@@Name_7667 I’m a physician who makes an impact on the lives of those in need. I sacrificed my best years for the service of others. I spend time w pts unlike many these days. I do free medical-legal work for those in need esp where I see injustice. And this is just the beginning of what I’ve done and plan to do further if you must know. So, I’m not a billionaire but I’m the richest doctor bc I sleep every night very well w my integrity and sense that I did good today.

@@Name_7667 Again, you dont see the implications here but that’s ok really. I fear that this is the unaccomplished not having a great way to gauge accomplishment. No need for further discussion with such. This thing he created is not a good thing or a good thing for our society and was the first of its scale but not the first in concept. It wasn’t even his concept (“hot or not” go back to his life story) as he stole the idea, settled out of court, then blacklisted the original inventors. He’s built on it since. He didnt create instagram, he bought it. They DID build the algorithms however that have proven to be destructive, especially to the youth, esp female youth, of our country. Thus he stole something, built it up, corrupted it, corrupted our youth (esp instagram), and now we have fake connection as the outcome. Society isnt better for this “accomplishment” instead we have an oligarch who built his wealth on the backs of other ppl’s ideas for the detriment of society. Social media does not make our society better and social media is at the core of the exponential growth of divisiveness and emotional manipulation of many by a few.

advice for yougn people: be the correct racial demographic so you can go to Harvard on legacy/racial admissions where only a few people will get capital for their ideas..... Seems like a completely rational and legit society.
