The remarkable story that may not have been told or realised in just a few weeks, of one man and his dream which occurred one January day in 2019 with a simple question and the story that was then told, to unfold this flypast today, just a few weeks later.
Tony Foulds gets his wish and remembers the 10 crew who died to protect civilian life in their stricken bomber in 1944 during World War Two, of which he was eight years old and didn't understand their waving from their damaged aircraft for him to move off the green, which has left him with guilt and looking after their memorial for the last 75 years.
Dan Walker who asked the question, could not be there as he is in Tanzania for Comic Relief and is also testimony to the men who gave their lives in freedom, so that people today could help each other as they did 75 years ago, but they paid the ultimate price in order to save lives, and Comic Relief, the internet, KZbin which you may be watching this on and even many of us being born after the war, would not be here today.
As for Tony Foulds himself, the guilt which he speaks of will never go away for him and the ten American airmen who he calls his family, I would like to think would be very proud uncles of him, as many of us today, are proud of Tony and his remarkable story and dedication, as thousands of people turned up to witness at the place and millions more watched it on their televisions, not just to see the flypast but Tony Foulds himself.
