Hi there. I’m originally from Manaus, but currently living in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Your video made justice to what Manaus is. do you know that the rubber trees grown in tropics like Thailand and Malaysia are actually originated from Brazil? that is why it has a scientific name called Hevea Brasiliensis. as said by mark, Manaus was developed by the rubber industry and it was further exploited by a British botanist called Henry Ridley in the Industrial Revolution.

Manaus - can't help thinking of Werner Herzog's film "Fitzcarraldo" and the documentary "Burden of Dreams" which was made about the filming of Fitzcarraldo. That famous shot of Herzog...."You know, if I voss not making films, I sink I vould be in a mental hospital" (!) But, thanks to you Mark, we have another view of Manaus and the amazing things it has to offer....sometimes fact is much more fascinating than fiction!
