Broken Drawbar Causes Derailment

Okay. It was no big deal and trains were running on the other track within a half an hour. I'm sorry for the lack of coverage, but issues with the drone spoiled my mood for doing anything more. I hope you like what I did get.

Easy to snap one there. It’s at the crest of 1.6 and 1.8 grades, plus it’s 50 MPH track, things happen fast and if you’re not on top of your train handling, you run the risk of something like this happening. Though usually just a knuckle, not the drawbar, end sill, bolster and truck😬

Drone shots are nice it helps show the area and helps your story line, BUT it isn't worth all the trouble it causes to get set up etc. and then only have a few minutes of fly time. Keep doing what you do we love your channel, be safe out there cooler days are here now.

Mark ...we were told that the car derailed after cresting the grade and the truck caught something and that's when things tore apart... you know how we like to speculate...

I was considering investing in a drone, but here in Fresno, most locations are restricted because of the flight paths of the Fresno Air Terminal/ Air National Guard.

My first impression had me asking "what is all that stuff hanging on the end of the culprit hopperr?". This was more than just a sheared off pin holding the drawbar iinside the frame! It looks like the frame of the drawbar and the whole end/underframe structure of the hopper car that rides on the truck fractured catastrophically, separated from the car and remained (partially) coupled to the remaining cars in the cut for a while. So, was the truck derailed before the structural failure of the car, or did the structural failure lead to the car/drawbar/frame/truck cause the truck to cease supporting the end of the car? "Hey, Charlie, grab the records on the maintenance of hopper XXYZ such- and-such number." All speculation of course, but this doesn't look like a simple "they-lung-ed-it" scenario.

Actually, I can operate the drone just fine, as seen in previous and upcoming videos I've already shot. But when the control systems start acting up, there's not much I can do about that. And what other equipment have I had problems with, or are you just one of those people who like to complain about, and attempt to demean others?
