I was on drugs for 10 years got out of jail had no job hobbies no hope. I remember my grandfather use to take me fishing so I opened up his old tackle box and pulled out a 1/4 rattle trap ,went to a local pond with a spinning set up with a 5ft rod I caught a 1 pound bass and from that moment on in 2016 I’ve hooked on bass fishing. It’s now 2023 and have almost 7 years clean I thank god everyday for fishing

Great video, when I was a kid I used my grandpa's Heddon Super Sonic that dates back to the late 50's. No rattling though. I think the Tat-L-Trap came out a decade later. Sonic caught some fish.

Years ago I caught a 3 pound brown trout on the snake river, eastern Idaho. I threw original Bill Lewis rattle trap, and that fish tore that bait to pieces , cracked the sides of it and pulled the hooks out from the body. That fish wanted it bad!! That was fun!

1/4 rat-l-trap, yes I’ll take that anywhere. From southern NJ and lakes / ponds by me max depth is like 4, maybe 5’ deep. Trap comes through everything fishing from the bank .... I’ll have to try that aruka shad now

Easy to relate to Adrian, since we are from the same area and I frequent tackle direct as I drive by it daily. Like he said we catch a lot of small fish. Typically 1-2lbs. I’m more likely to catch a 4lb pickerel than a 4lb bass

I have thrown a trap plenty and have caught them on it. But, if the waters dirty enough for a trap, I'd much rather throw a jackhammer now that I found a good rod for it. The only time I still to throw it is yoyoing a 3/4 over deep offshore grass, that can get bit even with a little clearer water.
@hoovy6579 Жыл бұрын

The Cordell Hot Spot had a single rattle. At first the weight was glued in and some of the weights came loose and guys started catching bass on them better and Cotton Cordell started making a single rattle version even before the Rat-L-Trap. The Cordell Super Spot was the second version of the Cordell Hot Spot. I caught a 11-3 on a Super Spot.

Lots of epic lipless cranks that weren't even mentioned. There is a lot that the "OG" trap can't do and isn't good for. They each have their own situations that they excel in so you're doing yourself a major disservice if you try to just stay loyal to one particular brand or bait.

In La, but the LV series, Duo Realis Apex, Jackall, Spro and Megabass are at the top of the market if you are doing anything other than winding it back in. Yo-Zuri is pretty straight too. If just casting and winding Bill Lewis is hard to beat. Edit: the old rat-l-traps, not sure when but somewhere in the 90’s and early, are better than the new ones. They sound different too. There was also a classic won with the Storm Arashi vibe, shout-out Ott Defoe!
@windellpenton Жыл бұрын
Bill Lewis has always been fragile (finish) but a solid 8 for me .. the larger eyes on the red eye I feel gets me more bites in clear water. The yo-zuri has the most durable and most realistic finishes it’s my winner .. no experience with the spro.
