Bro you're so cool! I really appreciate you taking us through your learning process and being vulnerable like that. You're a legend and lowkey have the kind of channel I would like to create.

Mark, the painting looks so good! As a fellow programmer learning art, seeing your progress is really inspiring! You breaking down your process like that makes it look so simple!

As a person who practiced sketching before learning how to code, I would definately say that drawing is more stressful. Because not only is the drawing the work of your mental visual library, but also your hand muscle memory. But with coding, its just learning a new language. What I love about both of them is that one can get creative in each. It's just in art, there's so many midiums and as a person, you need to find out where you fit in in that medium.

My analogy: Programming: a puzzle you can solve many ways for the same outcome Art: a puzzle you can solve many ways but with multiple outcomes
@MarkDavidTeo2 жыл бұрын
Yeah... I totally get that. I feel like it helps to reduce the outcomes in order to be more specific with the process :) I.e. hitting a very specific 1px brush style with flat color/shadows etc. Or doing production art where a bunch of artists all have to have the same finish. Im always happy to discuss this! Now art feels so much more normal to me than programming haha.

Thanks for the twist in the end where you clarified programming is not black/white. I was gonna dislike the video 😂 When you said programming is easy because we have tests we can run I got really triggered 😋 Awesome painting!

I feel this difficulty on being an artist. I need to learn scales, music theory. to feel confident enough to do something. and a "true artist" just don't need it.
@MarkDavidTeo2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I feel that. I definitely think it's more of a society thing though. everytime I meet one of those "true artists" and i hear their background, I can pretty much reverse engineer their learning path now haha. Yo, if you practice your scales and learn your favourite songs, then deconstruct it all. Before long you can make your own unique stuff :) You got your own voice, and it's definitely gonna be different to a "true artist" :)

What programming languages do you know? Does one ask a duck what rivers it swims in?
@MarkDavidTeo3 жыл бұрын
Ohhh I like that. Reminds me of something similar "cant see the ocean because im swimming in the sea". Except I guess you can see an ocean if you're in a sea because they're different? Shrug LOL
