The difference between government and God is that the government is real. Pray to God all you want and you are probably not going to get anything. However if the government has a safety net it will help you when you are injured or some other catastrophe. This is why conservatives want to destroy our social safety nets. They want a bunch of desperate people with no help who then must turn to spiritual beliefs to cope with their situation. Once they are religious then they will vote conservative and keep the cycle of hopelessness and superstition going. This works because it is much easier to destroy the government than to build it up. The conservative elite see you as nothing more than expendable workhorses and if you get a bum leg they want to send you to the glue factory instead of paying to fix you. Then if you get hurt they will tell you that it is just a challenge God gave you.

I am an Army vet and a Pastor, in a small Pa. town, and currently seeking a church, so I do guest sermons. And it's sermons like this that I preach that get me turned away. I'm told, "don't be political", don't be offensive... essentially, don't preach the true word of God. My response, I preach what the word of God says, if that offends you, you're wrong, change your thinking, not God's word. I just might end up being the only career long unemployed Pastor in the history of Christianity, lol

By the way. Judas Iscariot was NOT Judas "Sicario," as you've recently suggested in your sermon. Just because a couple words sound the same in English pronunciation does not make them even remotely related. For his name to be misquoted, SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES ACROSS SEVERAL DIFFERENT GOSPELS, EVEN IN THE GREEK MANUSCRIPTS WE HAVE, it would mean the entire Bible's authenticity and fidelity MUST be called into question.
