my great-granduncle was franz rudoph wurlitzer. the inventor of that machine. i am proud. greetings from germany
@martynh54108 жыл бұрын
Rudolph Wurlitzer was born in Germany and moved to Cincinnati in 1853. He passed away in 1914. The 1015 was actually designed by Paul Fuller in 1946. Still, it must be great to be part of that famous family. The Wurlitzer 1015 is the most well-known Jukebox ever created and one of the most attractive. I wish I had one.

Die Musikboxen habe ich geliebt. Schade daß es so etwas nicht mehr gibt.
@robfriedrich282210 ай бұрын

You know, I never really thought about the fact that the sound of those records was heard differently much of the time than we hear them today because the jukebox is a unique and specific delivery system. Fascinating insight, thanks.

My Dad bought a used 1015 from a restaurant in the early 60s. He bought it for $25 and put it in our basement. We had it thru time I grew up, then moved and sold it for $25. Boy I wish I had it now! Beautiful job on the restoration! -- Atco

I had people send comments to my videos saying I should play 40's music only on my 1015. I think this music you are playing is perfect for the 1015. Here is a thought that I enjoy.Imagine walking into a old dinner in 1960 and seeing a 1015 glowing back in the corner with the top hits on it. Imagine the way it would look with the patina ,smoke etc. There were several locations that had to use the 1015 well up into the 70's. Wurlitzer offered the 45 RPM change over kit. Come on people

I have a restored 1015 I purchased in 1975 -- I chromed every piece of metal inside & out -- it is spectacular. It is also stocked with very rare original 78rpm rock & roll records. One small comment -- originally the pilasters rotated inward towards the center of the cabinet. Yours rotate outward -- this is a matter of personal preference of course. To remedy, just switch the motors around and you are good to go...

I kind of like them going the way they are in this vid, the same way mine rotate, the color comes out of the center this way, looks cool

@markdubois3312 жыл бұрын
cashargentinenfan, Of course this song was not recorded in 1946. The Wurlitzer 1015 was manufactured in 1946. The most popular jukebox ever designed by Wurlitzer, they could be found in restaurants and bars into the 60's rockin away to songs on 78 RPM records from the 30's to the mid 60's when 78 RPM records went out of style. With the advent of the 45 RPM records in the late 40's many of these Wurlitzers which only played 24 selections converted to 45's. Jerry Lee was heard on many a 1015!
@3713msg5 жыл бұрын
These 78 rpm machines were taken out of service by the early 1960's. You know that to be factual, so why spread untruths?

Who said this song was recorded in 1946? This song was recorded in the 1950's. The Wurlitzer 1015 was made in 1946 and 1947. The 1015's were found in locations well up into the 1970's. Everybody could not get a new Jukebox every few years.

@NEWbobofhollywood7 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing you're a big fan of David Seville & The Chipmunks. Sounds better at 80 when it should be going 78 is LUDICROUS. Try playing your instrument along with the fast running record. That's sure to work even better.
@richardsoffice91766 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Robert, for noticing this. Most people accept this, don't question it, and, guess what? The record ends a little sooner, the operator makes more nickles & dimes! Yet, this can mirror what people hear on the radio. There is an excellent, big book on the music business, record companies & radio stations, written by a college professor. I'm not at home now; keep in touch & I'll get it to you! It's called "Solid Gold" or some such. Program Directors are usually not D Js; their job is to think of ways to increase listenership, so that more can be charged for commercial time. During the mid - 60s, for example, one P D, possibly for the "Boss Radio KHJ" said that they played the music faster than 45 rpm. This seemed to get people's attention. Maybe messed with the equalization. But then, if you bought the music, took it home & played the record at the correct speed, it could sound (a little) slow, compared to the radio. I'm glad those days are gone. The few stations on A M, who still play music, such as A M 1260 in Los Angeles (oldies), have (relatively) terrible sound, compared to F M. It doesn't have to be this way. Despite the limited upper frequency response (A M must roll off at 5,000 cycles or Hz) A M can still have 'pretty good' sound if station management and engineering care. Some automated station music retrieval systems are 'low fi.'
