Smart woman. Only thought I would differ on is renewable electric energy, particularly in the automotive area, which is the timeline - probably 50 years away to get the technology up to speed. Battery technology is limiting at present. Petroleum will reign for many decades to come.

Paying off a very low interest fixed rate mortgage, e.g. less than 3% in the US, might not be the best advice, though the bank will certainly like Danielle. Agree that we are at high valuations, so why hasn't Warren Buffet sold all of his stocks.....granted high cash position in Bershire....however also a lot of money in equity. All the millionaires and billionaires, even the most conservative among them.....should they have all or almost all their millions and billions in short term US government bills and bonds?????????????????

Buffet just bought a lot more Chevron and Occidental. I would agree with you about keeping the 3% mortgage rate in the usa, But the cash you will need to pay off the mortgage should not be too speculative; better to pay off the mortgage than loose the money in a stock crash. On another thought in canada and many European countries, mortgage rates reset about every 5 years. So be ready to pay off the balance at that time if your rate is doubled or more on reset. Safe cash is king. 5% money market for the balance (set up the mortgage payment out of this account on auto pay).
