A few important notes: - The values that Mike stated were from TCG Player's marketplace. We have a machine that will sort Pokemon cards and price them with TCG Player's market value. It's important to note that those values are not always in line with what the lowest available price is on TCG Player's website, nor with prices on eBay or other sites. Much like COMC, prices can vary on marketplaces with many copies available and bulk buys. - The prices I stated while ripping the boxes were from eBay. Of note and for ease, I valued most reverse holos at $0.50 and most holos at $0.50-$1.00 because that's how a shop or dealer would box them up. Some may be cheaper or more expensive, but I wasn't going to directly comp a hundred cards to be precise to the penny. - It can definitely be difficult if not impossible to sell cards

This is a great note. From the comments and my thoughts. I was wondering why you priced reverse halos and holos. I suggest to skip them all together. There consider bulk still.. any Ex to SIR( special Illustration Rare) or any picture card basically that is textured are what most collectors are looking for. Yes they also range from .50 cents to a dollar for common ex and SIRs. Still great content. Good luck on the future episodes. Can't wait to see you rip the new set coming next month!

@tpott great video! As a collector or sports cards and a father of pokemon lovers, I feel the need to get up the curve or at least get a base understanding of pokemon. Think this would be a great educational series for all the parents out there trying to get a grasp of pokemon collecting

I actually did collect, and then my cards got sold at a family garage sale. However, over this last Thanksgiving I did some digging and I found a holo charizard in my old bedroom. She's going straight to PSA. This 151 set you are opening is giving me the feels, I might have to buy some of that.

Hi! I just found your channel and am really enjoying your content. I was hoping you could please do some more videos opening HOCKEY packs. You mentioned that other people had asked in one of your recent videos. I am just adding another vote for more hockey!!

What system/program do you use to do the comps?
@evergreenfire5097 сағат бұрын
Opening specific ET’s in this market is printing money. Depending on what ETB you get, especially if it’s a Pokémon exclusive the only comes from the Pokémon website. It is absolutely printing money. Average especially at this time in the market the promo if it gets a PSA 10 is going to pay for the box by itself at the low end and you get all the packs for free. And in some cases, you can buy an elite trainer box for $150 in the promo be worth $900 in a psa10. And the promo for this ETB that he opened in the video will sell for over $100 in a PSA 10 at minimum it’ll sell for 100

Amazing video! I think it you do the calculation if you didn’t hit Jackson Merrill auto there would’ve been a wee different conclusion at the end haha! I think something like 70% of your final value came from that card alone whereas Pokémon had a much bigger distribution. Keep these videos coming please!!

The average collector isn't selling anything Pokémon regular holo and down for more than like 10c a card at best. I know you were adding them in your calculations with your comment below also.

Actually we sell tons in my shop. The regular Poke collectors trade them in for store credit, so are getting good $$ back on bulk.

Soo glad you did this video!.. I’m in that conundrum of buying small hobby boxes for myself or a bunch of Pokemon ETB’s to rip with my kids… I definitely get more excited ripping w/kids.. even tho at one point in ur video- I feel like you challenged my masculinity compared to MLB Rips 😂.. Two things Kids can chase charter boxes for their favorite Pokemon.. but hobby boxes rarely can you go buy boxes for your favorite teams, Second you can probably yield greater gains if you buy Pokemon boxes and leave them sealed to flip… I’ve seen boxes triple value in 6 months.. I’m really curious if an unopened Wemby Rookie yr box would be more then a 151 Pokemon in the next yr 🧐

I haven't been into Pokemon since the late 90s when I collected the cards and played Pokemon red/blue/yellow on gameboy. That 151 set would interest me as I actually know the Pokemon. Some of the more recent Pokemon just sound made up and look strange to me. The original 151 are still the best and are very nostalgic to see.

It's great I wouldn't buy sealed products, though. If you're trying to complete the set. You can just buy singles and it won't be as expensive.

But a pokemon card won't become more valuable like a baseball players card though, right? Ex: If a mediocre player starts doing well his card value will go up. I don't follow pokemon, but I imagine certain pokemon don't get better stats all of the sudden?
@stepbro53602 сағат бұрын
Actually instead of stats Pokemon goes by how available a card is. So the older the card the more it goes up. So it’s the upside of sports but without injury’s or market crashes. I collect both, I just sold all my sports from this recent market crash.

I remember leaving a comment back then too do pokemon cards. I love pokemon cards but have a respect for the sport card world. Watch your views grow and you business grow. I hope u guys continue this trend. Numbers dnt lie. Pokemon cards out sell sports. We dnt need a one of one. show me some black labels you guys send in and I will continue to watch and comment to further the algorithm in your favor. A for effort 👌 but a Lil more education ok the pokemon world will be funny for you and your audience while doing rips. My fav part is wen you mentioned starwars and the pickachu ex was the chance 😂 all love. I know most of my sport card knowledge is from you guys. Do some homework and watch other channels. I cant wait too see what you guys do when the next set comes out. Great episode. Ohh n the money tracker was nice. Some just love money n dnt collect. That's fine. Re sellers keep our hobby alive 🙏 keep it up team.

I loved this! Would love to see Lorcana or Star wars unlimited! I've been a hockey and TCG guy for a long time and I think you nailed it. I collect and play TCG. I chase when opening hockey. I can casually open TCG and do ok. I can casually open sports and get SMOKED nearly every time. I have found sports card openings to be more frustrating than fun which is why I spend a lot higher percentage of my budget on TCG vs. sports cards.

No demand for the 230th parallel out of 800 that exists for every rookie. Modern sports cards are uninspiring and diluted, with too many speculators. Also box prices priced out many people from the hobby. Ill stick to pokemon all day. Im not paying half a mortgage payment to open up a box of cards

Pokemon don't get injured or not meet expectations, so thats a big plus. There is a lot of set collecting so even the cheapest shorter printed cards have a couple of dollars value long term. There are a lot of lesser # of cards overall, so if the market deems the "Magikarp" as the card to get, everyone will want it driving the prices through the roof. While in sports, every player has like a hundred different rookie cards not even counting the color variations. The Pokemon brand won't ever go away at this point, but there is always a possibility of some retraction years down the road.

I say that you should do this again but take one booster box vs one hobby box of football
@hardcourthofКүн бұрын
Yes, we need 4 of each Pokémon card and well 0 of any of the sports cards so there is that. Also, people with astigmatism have a hard time reading the holo versions so base is targeted for them. In sports the parallels have gotten so out of hand it has inadvertently made the base cards useless. I believe that is the real problem we currently face.

Still don’t get Pokémon. No numbered or very rare cards so the ripping gamble ceiling is limited. Plus they can reprint those same cards later lowering value. I’d rather gamble big on very rare sports cards when ripping.

You can make so much more money in pokemon cards while building a collection I just got into it I’ve spent $600 on all different types of booster boxes and I have a book value of around $3000 ungraded I have over 40,000 sports cards I’ve collected since childhood and I can say it’s so much harder selling sports cards there’s 1000s of professional athletes and most of the stuff is worthless if they arnt a prominent name so you could pull a cool card but nobody likes that player so he’s worth nothing but you could pull a common pokemon special art that’s worth over $300 graded and will sell within the month plus if you don’t live in the US I live in Canada it’s even harder to sell mlb cards or NFL cards cuz no one really cares about those leagues here
