What are your opinions on the various schools of economic thought? I'm particularly fond of Austrian and Behavioural Economics (with a little institutional econ thrown in). As an Economics graduate I found that some of the Neo-Classical theory was based on poor assumptions!

How many people have you interviewed who have a degree in economics? Perhaps invite people with a degree in economics to be interviewed by you on this channel, in videos that would be exclusively that. Maybe make it a series on it's own so anytime you find someone new to interview you can add to the playlist. Perhaps it will be difficult to find enough people who are willing to be interviewed about their educational and employment history on the internet though, but if you can this might help to dispell the myth that there aren't many career opportunities for economists/econ majors. I for one would be interested to see how many double majored and I am, and it sounds like others might be, interested to see how they got their start after graduating, like did they have an internship.

From experience I think a BSc in Economics is very much better than a BA in Economics because of the more quantitative courses found in a BSc in Economics. I have friends who did a BA in Economics and struggled to land a job but for me with a BSc in Economics and finance I was able to get a job in govt immediately working in Finance department

See it's your effort and skills even for finding an econ job....there are openings and something called linkedin if you would know.... Yes bachelors provide placements only in delhi mumbai but masters have greater scope and reach ...ots all that you should know to approach and connect.....if you are unaware and unable it's not the fault of the course

In my experience economists really do have physics envy. Had a professor of labor econ fascinated by physics he'd spend 90 percent of class talking about it (sometimes). Even myself, i watch andrew dotson and I don't study physics at all lmao

BA in economics is an elite course in India’s topmost institutes and the competition to get into it is huge. Even for masters programme, the competition becomes more serious. A degree in economics, the knowledge and the skill set acquired has a wide scope of opportunities in India. Economics students get placed into great companies,banks and amazing internships. Also, Indian Economic Service officer is a thing that requires you to have degrees in economics and many people write in these competitive exams. From being highly relevant in civil services examination (where a background in economics is very impressionable) to jobs in central bank or future policy makers, economics never disappoints.

I can’t believe you said just said the words,“Physics is easy.” The context makes total sense but just hearing the words themselves made me laugh out loud. 😂 Would also really love to hear your take on internships. This strain of videos discussing futures in studying and working in economics have been really helpful, and reassuring for me as someone taking a less traditional path and pace through my education. Hey Prof. Someone tells me grad schools look for 3 semesters of calculus. The only way to do that at my Uni is to take hardcore Math department courses. And I’m not that big a fan of math in the first place, I tolerate it because I enjoy Econ. What would you recommend?

in 2013 on my way to college in another state i spent on of my flights talking to a guy who told me not to get a degree in economics because he explained you cant find a job its pretty much worthless. i was business major and he told me that was good. Now that im back in school, im minoring in Economics despite his waring.

Economics degrees seem to be perceived very differently in UK vs US. In UK economics is seen as a very prestigious degree with a lot of clout. Probably gives the best career prospects outside of medicine (more so than CS, law, engineering). I wonder if they're taught differently

Please dont spread negativity and confusion in our minds....everyone has their journey...and in India with added skills you as an economics graduate can succeed in coming days....develop analytical skills .....only the degree will not make you employable ...its there only to support you

One first point on BA vs BSC: I have a BSC in psychology that effectively had the exact same requirements as BA because my psychology units were classed as science - so there is no way to know for sure what differences a BA/BSC entails.

In India, some uni will give you a BSc in econ if you take a certain amount of credits from maths/stats department.

I think getting a Bsc in economics is way better than getting a BA in economics because of the finance and management courses that are found in a bsc than a BA which has no finance or management courses
