Big respect for the interviewer too: He never puts out his own opinions he basically lets ray talk which is great! Many people call him a tool here. He is not! Too many interviews with great minds are ruined by Interviewers who want to be important too...

Conversations involve two parties. If there is only one party is willing to be honest and be open, and another party wants to be ‘peaceful ‘ and avoid conflicts and maybe a little offended by the critics. Then what would the likely results? The paradox won’t get resolved if both parties insist their own ways. Fundamentally, It requires such environment for both parties to feel comfortable to express themselves and more importantly, they have the common goals working toward them.

I like how he speaks about independent thinking and then proceeds to squash an independent thought in the form of a question at 16 minute mark. Sometimes you are better off with someone else in charge or you in charge and you have to take it in strike. In the operations world, meritocracy doesn't exist. If a man can do well in any job or better than anyone else, that person will end up at the worst job possible. We need operational evaluations and criticism is what is needed. Shutting down criticism of the methods that you take is bad and limits the growth and potential of it.

The interviewer is a mere mechanist, as typically produced by sad MBA programs. Ray Dalio is first an idea man on credible human relations: To pursue a meritocracy - rather than a tyranny or a mere tyranny of the majority -- requires building a kind of relationship, first & foremost in priority, that involves a genuinely humble approach to learning -- i.e., neither you nor "your idol" knows it all -- and so learning from those personally and relationally capable of learning from one another -- before all else. THEN the mechanics of how it's done becomes interesting and important. INVERTING these two phases - is to simplify - but a unsustainably different design for disaster, sooner rather than later...

He is brilliant, effiencent and so much more. And i do understand Why labelling something as a machine Can be helpful, and much in our reality is a machine. But... my principle for lets say connection is quite opposite of this. I Can’t and won’t prefer treating i.e women as machines, and it May be great for learning but you Will Press the wrong buttons, and you Will learn in a different and wrong Way for how to understand women.
