Ironically, they may not be. Trump signed an executive order to do a federal hiring freeze among executive-branch agencies, of which ICE is a part of. It's unclear whether an exception will be made for ICE. It definitely affects the IRS, which rich people who skirt taxes are going to enjoy.

Well these "academics" playing with their Stata can always come up with some rationale that fits their narrative. But we can play that game in other ways as well. For example. Cheap labour slows innovation by taking away the incentive to make a process more efficient. Illegal immigrants are more likely to provide and seek services outside the formal job market, causing societal externalities (missed taxes, missed social contributions, deterioration of neighborhoods, creating a climate that facilitates criminal activity)

Immigration to the US is just about impossible for a lot of people despite having done nothing wrong. Just being born into the wrong country. I wish the US government would vastly increase the numbers of visas and greencards and streamline the process so more people can come in legally, and giving amnesty to those who came with no other choice-- then I'd be okay with being more strict on immigration status. But given many people don't have a choice, cracking down on status is silly, in my opinion.

@@shafx1987 The average is $33 including millionaires and billionaires that make up 70-80% of all new and preserved wealth (on the entire planet). Not only are we being forced to live below our means , billionaires and millionaires that don’t even keep their money here, drive up all the prices and buy up all our houses only to double and triple the original price. We are all being screwed 5 different ways then being made to pay for its fallacies out of our own pockets. New millionaires get screwed and forced to participate or get devoured by billionaires and poor people that need food.

This conversation is so insanely stupid companies hire people all the time, it’s never one for one unless your the ceo of a company because companies never stop hiring. People leave their jobs because of injury, hospitalisation, death, a better job somewhere else les or relocatation, incarceration, or any and all kinds of factors .. so companies never stop hiring. So if the pool of illegals is less guess what the pool of legal employment will increase Because companies need workers ?! And maybe North Dakota needs to be more business friendly to attract workers

They need to be more worker friendly these places suppress workers demanding better pay and treatment, and then the companies turn around and hire over seas labor or illegal labor to fill the gap. If anyone thinks we should just roll over and capitulate to business during an economic revolution this country is trying to go thru is not READING THE ROOM!

Established illegal immigrants have careers, pay taxes both income-sales-property, and own homes. Deport the low-wage worker and we can't replace them with an American, prices will go up on everything, we can't replace the taxes without a tax increase, and the banks are going to get hit with defaulted mortgages. This is a self-defeating economics plan.

Both sides of this argument suck. The anti trumpers are saying “we need illegal immigrants because they work for slave wages. You can’t expect us to force companies to follow employment laws and they need desperate people to exploit.” What kind of argument is that? Meanwhile, the other side wants to substitute migrant labor with prison labor. You know what will drive prices down? First, massive infrastructure projects. Second, force companies to lower prices in exchange for using that free infrastructure. Soft planned economies have always been superior to the chaos of just letting everybody do whatever.

Well, isn't this a perfect example of voting against your interests? A state desperate for workers, likely reliant on both legal and undocumented immigrants, backs a regime that wants to restrict legal pathways and deport non-criminal undocumented individuals. May those who voted for those policies feel the consequences, while those who didn’t manage to persevere n' stay alive.

The video mentions the need for farmers, but this can be for example a season migration. Doesnt have forever permanent. If we struggle to find workers for certain sectors, maybe the issue is to do with lower salaries ? Higher salaries can translate into higher consumerism too. If we perpetuate bringing in imigrants to fill in low paid jobs, we are perpatuating inequality between those at the bottom and those at the top by maintaining or widening the income gap. We are also not inovating as fast because the motivation wont be there. As for the hospitality sector, probably we dont need another chain of restaurants either. All of the mentioned in this video is highly misleading and ignores the many impacts of uncontrolled imigration for the rest of the economy, be it the strain on the public sector or the property market.

"in the name of more jobs and job security" has become the scapegoat in this discussion. I will ask how many "real jobs" that create "real economic growth" actually exist? There is no real growth anymore in 2025 and beyond. Wage stagnation inflation zero affordability everywhere in the world. All the sectors mentioned in this video just pay some person to do something that is low or zero real value. And for the hiring you have to deal with employee safe space crap sick leave etc. it's so expensive to pay anyone to do anything and in the long run it is a net lost economic deficit. Also every place in the world should have the right to deport any undocumented illegals migrants refugees asylum seekers legal foreigners that are a net lost economically to hire all have to go. And no it is not racist there are times when that is the smarter choice. We're seeing this shift happening and it's a similar story in europe.
