Been feeling down lately. Which is odd considering things are going really well. I’ve got a lot of ambition but I feel a lack of focus. Anyway, just wanted to talk some things out with you guys.

no ,that's normal for ambitious people>>>>they always feel they are not doing enough no matter what! when you start to feel you are doing enough ,you will stop making progress. because your mind hates to feel uncomfortable , and it will do whatever it takes to feel better . and as he says ,he is looking for future , because that's what matters for a human, the future ,the past doesn't really matter . i can see that mark feels empty , like existence of a jewel for no reason.( and that's just guess ) i really thank him for giving us such a unique experience , i can only see from this, learning a lot about life.

Something I'm realizing as I grow in this job is the never ending need for "more." It's this trap that success can lead people into; a bottomless rabbit hole of more opportunities, more accomplishments, more projects, more of a legacy. You reach the next milestone, but it quickly becomes not enough. You check an item off your list and another gets added. And you step back and realize it's just another drug, just another high you're chasing. Self-checking that feeling is really hard, especially in our line of work. I get what you're feeling. You're not the only one.

I'm not a psychologist. I don't claim to be. But I have spent a lot of time working with them and something I am hearing in this and that I have heard from you before, Mark, is concerning to me. You speak a lot about wanting to leave a change on the world which is a good goal tied intrinsically to human nature, but I worry about the lense you are seeing it through. I don't know that you will ever see this comment but to anyone struggling with something similar I encourage you to try and view the impact of your current contributions. Mark, you may feel you haven't changed the world because your worldview feels largely the same, but you absolutely have. All the young people who have found peace and joy in your content while struggling with anxiety and depression, for example. To them? You changed the world. To some of them you gave them the world again when all they saw was darkness that no one else could shed a light on. Those young people will go on to have successful lives and families should they choose and you contributed to making that possible. All your charity streams have helped so many. Not only do they raise money, but they inspire others to give and continue to do so. You play a large part in supporting organizations that do so much good in the world. Getting their message out and inspiring people to give. I could go on but this is already getting long. My main point is that you don't need to and honestly shouldn't try to view your contributions to the world by how you have shaped your own worldview. It is rarely satisfying and you will always see more to do than you have done because you have a kind heart that wants to help. I encourage you to take a moment, maybe once a week, and try to think of the ripple effect your accomplishments have to help others. When I struggled with this I set a goal for myself and for a few months I would go once a week and volunteer at a donation center somewhere in my community. While I was there I would try to think of all the good each package I made could do. It made everything feel so much more special and helped me to see those positives in my everyday life. Whatever works for you, to anyone who can find this helpful, merely being alive and waking up today has created so many opportunities that the world wouldn't have had if you hadn't. Everything you do, big or small, can change the world. Helping just one person, even if it is you, may not fix all the problems across the globe but for that person you may have just given them the world and that is beautiful.

Mark, I think that you are looking in the wrong direction for happiness. I, like you, am a 'go getter' and am always looking to the next thing to bring fulfillment and happiness in my life. I have found that (when I am able to) living in the moment and taking true appreciation in what I already have, is the only path to lasting happiness. You must look within to find inner peace. Looking to the next project or idea etc. will not bring a feeling of accomplishment and happiness that is lasting. It took me an awful long time to figure that out and I constantly battle with the need of 'the next best thing'. Perhaps saying this to you is my way of trying to recapture that same feeling of fulfillment that is found in complacency. It is a constant struggle but one worth fighting. Good luck Mark...and I know as sure as the day is long I will need that same luck myself! Cheers!

People like myself need to look inside and appreciate what we already have to find true happiness. I always seem to be in my head when i should be living in the moment. Best regards Karma! Happy holidays!

3b I honestly couldn’t have said it better myself! I went to therapy just yesterday and my therapist said a lot of time with creators of any kind (I’m a writer) you always want to act on your next big idea and you push yourself and you critique and basically everything you said. So yeah, really hope mark sees your comment cause I’m sure a lot of people experience this and don’t even notice. Oh, and mark. My therapist also mentioned Looking at the future can cause anxiety and looking at the past can cause depression. Sooo that may be something to keep in mind as well.

I say this with the upmost sincerity, I think your ambition has burned you out to an extent. I'm not saying to stop being you, not at all. You're so focused on "[your] future, your friend's future, humanity's future," etc. and there's nothing wrong with preparing for the future, but I think you're so set on what's going to happen tomorrow or what your 30s are going to be defined by, that you feel like today is passing you by which makes you feel glum. I've had concerns similar to yours to where it nearly consumed me and the only thing I could think about was the future and what I was going to do. It was miserable because I couldn't enjoy being in the now. My mom still tells me now to take life one day at a time. Nothing wrong in preparing for the future, but don't spend your life worried or stuck thinking about it. Enjoy your life, man. You've got friends, family, and pets that love you dearly, and they wouldn't want you to feel down because you're thinking about the future of everyone. Enjoy your life. Don't feel that you have to "define" your 30s or any other age. Life is different for everyone. I'm still trying to figure out mine. Don't whittle your's away trying to figure it out for everyone else.

It blows my mind that this man spends so much time doing and giving and being the best kind of human to look up to, and he still wishes he could do more. That's not something you see very often. And it makes me wonder: If Mark has done all of this and still wants more, than what more can I be doing? What kind of change can I bring about? You reach a wide, WIDE audience! That's a huge advantage I think. It takes a bunch of people to bring about change, and you have that! A whole community! I don't really have advice... I have only felt this way in passing--and as a depressed almost adult, I can only do so much.... there's a long road ahead of me--and you as well! I'm not sure how to help the world. @Markiplier According to psychology, a man/woman about to be in his 30s or in his 30s goes through what is called a "Mid-life Crisis". Basically it's everything you say, you look back at your life and think what to do want more. "Many middle-aged adults experience major life events that can cause a period of psychological stress or depression", you want and think you can do more which is good. But this might be an explanation to what you feel, but even if it wasn't as humans we want to be better people. You have potential and if you want to do more you do it! Good luck, have fun, and enjoy the ride that is life. (P.S If you do see this Hi)

Mark, this melancholy feeling is probably because you’re a little stressed. You just launched cloak and you’re having fun on the channel and all but because you’re putting out so much content so fast that you’re now subconsciously preparing for the future. And the more you think of the future, the more scenarios you create for yourself, and overall you’re just over stressing yourself. And also, slow down! I know you stated that you were bored and you wanna do more and more but the more you do now, the less you have later, and eventually, you’ll run out of things to do and you’ll get bored again. All you should do know is take like a week long break, chill out, have fun with Chica, sleep in, and discover new music. Mark, you’re amazing and you have inspired me and many other people. Don’t worry, you’re fine. Now relax and chill out.

Depression can creep on upon anyone mark. It can come in waves. These waves can be short, long, really frequent, or really delayed. From what I/we recall, you've gone through a lot this year, starting a clothing brand, losing loved ones, doing things that most people wouldn't even believe they would be able to do in their life time. You move people, more then you think. And those people will move you back. But sometimes, despite all the good, and the bad that happens. Depression will always find a way to sneak up on you, and put a dark cloud over your head. It makes you feel like you have a sense of continued dread over you. Not so much that you'd be worried for your safety or someone else's safety. But more along the lines of you being overly careful about what actions you end up doing which, if left unchecked. These actions will start running your life, more then you want them to. You gotta try your damnedest to manage your life and what you wish to do, and even what you wish to feel. If you're missing something, try to achieve it. Now... With all that being said. I know you want to go out and do more mark, and by all means go for it. But be warned. I've seen people try to go forward, go beyond youtube. And some of those people are quite successful, and others aren't. Not saying you wouldn't be, its pretty clear that you are extremely successful with how you've built yourself and your channel. It's just. "WE" don't want to watch you go down a road that you're not ready to handle. You might not be able to handle it. Hell, you might BE able to handle it, but it might become a bit to much later on. It all depends on whether or not you're ready for that change. Whatever you wish to do mark. Make sure you think it over first before doing it. We will support you throughout the whole journey. It's just we also don't want to watch you fall off halfway through either, because you weren't ready. Sure, failing is a learn experience. But failing continuously isn't something you would want to do. Which is what I/a lot of use fear would happen to you... We don't want to see you become demotivated, to the point where you stop trying, and give up. Hopefully, that won't ever happen. Regardless. Best of luck though with everything. You changed a lot since I/a lot of us have found you. From the first time I found you steaming SCP-087b to now. You've changed and grown a massive fuckton. *Aside from height I guess :P* And I sure the hell hope you continue to grow and expand to as many people as possible, to leave your "mark" in everyone's heart and so forth.

He's caring, and that's what makes him an awesome KZbin star. I appreciate what he does, and one day I would like to meet him to say this to him. But for now, this comment will live in this video. But, I want to meet more people like him. Please feel better, Mark. Try to do as much as you can do that helps others. Get well.

Maybe you should try to create change in art, try painting, or poetry or scripts. Be creative, try and push yourself artistically to create something that you can be proud of, share and inspire others. It helps me a lot.

I second this notion, personally painting is a great way to create something to work for. It gives me a reason to do something different and interesting, while also helping to take my mind off problems coming over the hill. Mark, if you see this, try pick up some paints and create something. Just what I would do.

I totally understand the need for momentum all the time. I am not comfortable with the status quo ever and it is my curse to bear. Thinking about the future is very good though because it prepares you for what is to come. I am now 36 and totally lost in many ways, but I was loosing my mind when I hit 30. Just remember that the world is not enough my friend because we all have progress on the brain and cannot stand to be idle. I have to say Mark, I know exactly how you feel. New year's eve 1998 my dad died. I was 12. 10 years later I felt really down, and didn't even connect the dots. Obviously I feel down every year. Then this year it was 20 years (I'm not old, not old! 32 is not old dammit). And it has hit me so hard, and again more subconsciously. I started to question everything in the world. I started avoiding facebook and the news because of the depressing stories everywhere. And more importantly I wish I could do more to help those in need. And it's saddens me so much that I can't. But your videos, they have been a constant bright spot. Your infectious enthusiasm, the raging and the laughs. The jump scares and the honesty. Every single one has had me laughing, crying and just feeling better knowing that there are people like you out there. So thank you. Because of you, I have decided to give streaming a try as a way to talk through random things, whether people are there listening or not, it's an outlet. Thank you for just being you

There are things in life we don't understand. The sudden bouts of unease and loss of direction can strike at anytime and will hit anyone. It can happen to the young, the old, the simple and complex, to the carefree and doubtful. It comes and goes but the memory will stay, like an imaginary chill clinging to your spine. I cried. It's unbelievable how you manage to put my feelings into words. I relate so much. I'm currently battling depression, and I believe a big precursor to this hopelessness I keep feeling is the knowing that I want something to strive for. I crave to feel that I have a purpose and that I change the world for the better everyday. I feel a strong desire to move forward, but I just can't seem to figure out where to start and where I want to go. What am I good at, what do I want to do with my life? This feeling of wanting to achieve something and the lack of hope and direction really fuels any depression, and my depression really blocks the light I'm trying to find. Thank you for being you. Once again you put my feelings into words and show us that we are not alone.

Mark, you always make me feel like there's more I could achieve in life but I could never know what. Just being here and watching your videos brings all sorts of good emotions. Even when you say you're a little down you let "us" know and try to sort it out with "us". KZbin doesn't have a lot of Creators like you these days I feel. More people are making content for the sake of making content and that's perfectly fine, It's great. But you, you seem like you make videos to better the lives of all of us. You inspire us to do our best. I'm watching this at 3:30 at night I'm so happy that I did. At night everyone sleeping so all you have is your own thought and you see things that you don't see in the day because the day is always occupied so night time is sometimes a great time think and reflect on your own thoughts and ideas. "Carpe Noctem 'Seize The Night.' " Thank You, Mark ❤.

Volunteer at a local place. Whether its a dog shelter or a soup kicthen or a goodwill or whatever, even though your impact there would from a mathmatical standpoint not nearly as effective as the amount of money you've donated to charity, seeing the faces of the people and animals you help does wonders for the mind.
