I don't blame him. The whole boss battle didn't feel like a lot of progress was being made. The boss battles in this game in general could've used a little polish to turn this awesome game into something legendary.

The problem is the bosses barely give 'hit feedback' sometimes there's a little blood splash but they have no 'flinch' (even if it doesn't interrupt them, most games animations will have a boss show pain) and often legitimately DO have periods of invulnerability, so you're never quite sure "did I just waste all my ammo firing on an invulnerable enemy, or am I actually making progress?"
