Indeed. When it comes to games like these I definitely prefer when it's just 1 person playing. The jokes and stuff are funny. And i'm not saying he shouldn't play it with friends. Just that I think the game is better singleplayer. ... That said it is a lot harder if someone is playing as bigfoot. If only cause once you're down they're not gonna runaway and give you a chance to get back up like the AI will.

The knocking sound reminds me of a version of Hansel and Gretel where the father was chopping wood. When the kids wander off/fall asleep, he sets up a stick on a rope so it will occasionally smack a tree in the wind, making a sound similar to chopping wood. If you want to set up your lights to match the day/night cycle, I'd say the easiest approach would be to figure out how long the day/night cycles are in game, connect an outlet timer for your lights, then set the timer to switch back and forth at those intervals.

I think it'd be better to just brighten/darken the lights based on how bright various parts of the screen are. Take a square of the screen, determine the luminance, multiply some weight, add all of those results together, and then make the results of that turn into some brightness

My idea requires a bit of tuning at first (and I doubt that the software outside of the tuning would be that difficult), but then it should work for almost every game.

I have one that's very vague but, at 8:10 - 8:16 when mark is crossing the zipline over the frozen lake, he looks to the left, and I think there is something standing on the lake with a humanoid apperance, sort of brown in color. Or Diablo 3 will make your keyboard glow if you level up or if your abilities are on cooldown they they turn off and on. So integrating a reactive light in the middle of a game that already affects your keyboard could be relatively easy. Especially when compared to making a massive choose your own adventure series in two parts. After writing the script himself.

I’ve noticed through playing Phasmo that games are so much scarier alone. When I’m playing scary games with friends I don’t get scared as much I don’t know if it’s more bait or just the comfort of other voices and not being alone but when I am alone it’s 1000 times scarier. So I can understand why he’s so jumpy. Plus darkness, that also adds to the spook lol.

honestly I think this style of 'horror' game is much more impactful. Not sure if it's the realism side of being secluded but not a "oh no my car broke down" way or what but the fact that you know you're being watched and the monster knows where you are is really cool.

Honestly, after he sees big foot the first time it basically becomes an action game. Just shooting bullets into an incredibly tanky and hyper aggressive bullet sponge. Hard on multiplayer, downright a pain in the butt on solo. It either does a lot of damage and retreats, or gets blinded and retreats, while you put a dozen shotgun shells into it to chip away like 5% of it's health. I'd have doubled down on making the AI stealthy and intelligent. Rather than charge at you endlessly until dawn.

I've seen a streamer kill Bigfoot repeatedly and with not that much of a struggle while playing solo. He used traps in combination with anything explosive. He also kept killing every animal he saw because iirc, Bigfoot is able to regenerate the grey portion of its health bar only if he can find some meat to eat, which means that if you kill all the animals and keep the meat, Bigfoot will not be able to regenerate the grey portion of its health bar and it will turn black eventually.

For the lights thing, having them match the day/night of the game, I have an idea. Its called the phillips HUE play. Its a system you can hook into the HDMI (if you use those) between your monitor and PC that connects to an LED strip and it match the lights to the the light at the edges of your screen. In theory, in a dark game they should get dark, in the white snow they should be white, sunset in game they should be sunset-y. Might work?
