Y HELL yes at Boston's Fenway Park STEVE looks unhappy or something hes a smile killer drummer ide love to play with him drumming m a n
@gailremp83892 жыл бұрын
It's a good way to say it. Since the drummer has to drive, they always have to be that split second ahead in what they're doing. Except Steve kinda kicks it into a split also of 64th notes in pieces of little things and you just know that it's gonna be kick ass and take a number. You can tell I am not a drummer.. so I don't quite know the technical terms for the technique. Except it's a true gift. And when you add the rest of the group at their game and Mike Campbell just blowing up the state, wow.. I played clarinet. I'm in handbells now too -- not exciting stuff. But I know my rock 'n' roll and I know my blues shit. And this ain't your old-fashioned daddy's rock 'n' roll... but I'm 72 now. So I am of that age..ugh...God,shoot me. Shoot me now... But on February 9th of 1964 at the ripe age of not quite yet 15 I sat on the floor propped up to the couch with mom and dad with 72,999,997 others the night the Beatles played on Ed Sullivan. And my mom was in total hysterics (but sadly not shaking her head back-and-forth going wooooo) BUT my dad got it and was in total joy. Absolutely. He played five instruments and he was a FL boy but he was no fool. Like Tom I guess...And he knew good, good efforts by young people when he heard it. Dad was the driving force encouraging me to keep playing clarinet. And every evening I practiced for about three hours using a very difficult playbook that was in French. Nothing that we would ever play in band. But very difficult techniques you had to learn. and I was good. I honestly thought I was gonna be a classical musician and a psychiatrist. I didn't want much did I? I just wanted to play first-chair clarinet in the Philadelphia Orchestra. And I wanted to be a psychiatrist. And someone asked me why a shrink. Uh..my mom is nuts? Not good but that was the truth. Sadly I did neither... but I digress. Sorry. You get so caught up in the enthusiasm of Philly and Tom and everything that you get totally off track. And when you get old you're always off track. So this has been just a wonderful concert for me. Of course I have saved everything tom petty I can lay my hands on. And these are some of the best... thank you so much. You made the old broad smile.

All the greats are dying off so sad Steve Windwood killing it . This is what I remember seeing Tom Petty in Concert for a 1 dollar and a penny in Louisville Kentucky for a radio promotion. Fantastic then and now .
@benmeltzer2 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about Winwood. His ":killing it" (as you put it) has the effect of diminishing Benmont Tench's role on "Gimme Some Lovin',." That said, I wouldn't go so far as to be sad about it. Winwood performs so great on keys that it makes up for Benmont being relegated to a limited role. Bear in mind the upside and you'll take the downside less hard.

I was in an Eric Church concert two days later. If I had realized that I could've gotten to see Tom two days earlier and been staying in here listening to Mike Campbell with you wrecked me ..holy shit man.. I would've killed to gotten a ticket. You can't say that anymore actually. In 2022 someone might think you're actually serious...
@gailremp83892 жыл бұрын
The irony is I was in Philly to see an Eric Church concert on a Saturday in 2014 and I didn't know that this concert was within two days before or after. My mom had passed in May 2014 and I had a ticket to come up from Florida to Philly to see concerts. Because you have to go to Philly to see kick ass concerts. I'm sorry. That's just the damn truth. But thank God this is on video so it does make me smile. Oh and Eric Church was fantastic also. For those of you that are not familiar with him check him out. Not bad.
@gailremp83892 жыл бұрын
You can't beat it when you go to Philly to do any concert. I saw Eric Church there in 2014. And he just kicks ass. Because Philly just sings everything. They just are no holes barred. And the artist just go for it. So this is quite joyful

You can see the kind of physical pain that we knew he was in with his hip at that time. Doesn't matter what your age is. When the body parts start to go the body parts start to go. But you know he is going to soldier on. And it's such a bitch with having to take the pain meds because let's face it Belks they can kill you. He is so missed. But at least we have this tremendous musical heritage and interesting things that we can watch to remember together that you can make a mark in this world that is positive.
@melissagerber72312 жыл бұрын
Well this was 2014. The hip had not cracked, yet, but, considering why it cracked,it must have been hurting for some time.
@gailremp83892 жыл бұрын
Yeah just the idea of a crack is bad enough for sure. I still enjoy the show. I have body parts that I've gotten cracked and I'm not out there doing rock 'n' roll. Darn it.

I had an arthritic hip replaced. I walked with a limp. Recovery was 2 maybe 3 months he would have been in great shape. I don't understand why he didn't get it done.

@@donnaj.clarke2482 because he was a rocker in his soul…there were a ton of people who depended on him for their paychecks etc…Tom was always as stubborn as it gets too…he’d of been happy dying with a rickenbacker in his hands in stage…sucks he’s gone but EVERYTHING he stood for was as authentic as it gets…men like Tom Petty, John Lennon, had rock n roll in their bones

Great music. I love Tom Petty, he left us too soon. But I have to admit, I am looking for signs of Tom being in pain--and on painkillers. He is moving very gingerly, tentatively, and his affect makes me think....he was in pain. And was on some sort of opioid here, a maintenance dose to get him through the show. Not judging him, just sad, and maybe I'm wrong.
