Thanks so much for the tip about inserting the belt on the left side of the fan. Yours is the only video that includes that vital information. That's the only way to route the belt around the water pump correctly. I wish I had known that when first attempting to replace the belt; it would have saved me a lot of time spent trying to figure it out.

Thank you so much for this easy to follow video! I borrowed from oreilly the breaker bar tool but found it to be useless when putting the new belt on and instead used a ratchet and had no issue at all. I was worried a bit about getting the new one around the crankshaft properly but was able to come at it from below to make sure it was in the grooves properly. Also with the belt off I took some carb cleaner and a nylon brush to clean all the grooved pulleys and used some steel wool to clean the smooth parts. First time since I have owned the truck that it doesnt squeal a bit. I did use the continental version of the gatorback instead of oem.

As easy as changing a serpentine belt is, I still used another one of your videos as a reference to maintain my blazer, thanks again! My next task is changing the speed sensor on the front right wheel, I haven't found a good video for this yet, and have never done one, should be fun :)

Very VERY helpful video thank you very much! You definitely save me a fortune I spent probably 30 bucks on this belt. And I'm sure a unnecessary High mechanic bill.

My truck made scraping/squealing noise while driving home, then lost power steering intermittently, discovered belt snapped into 2 separate pieces. Checked all pulleys for movement with no belt, crank shaft & alternater don't move, do they need to be under tension to move? Power steering fluid looks low, would this be the cause of my problem? Thanks for video & help in advance!

It would be a big help to get rid of that pos fan and put a electric fan on it. I'm using a factory dual fan off a 02 concord on my 00 s10 4.3 and it has been the best thing I've done to it.

I don't want to say it but if feels like mine shrunk and I can't get the old one up after replacing alternator, I even loosened the alternator bolts to get that extra 16th. Thinking about buying one tomorrow

After loosening the tensioner I still can’t seem to get enough slack to slip the belt under the idler pulley - do you have any suggestions?
@a6five10 жыл бұрын
You might need a stick to get the belt around the bottom wheel. Making sure the grooves are settled into the track will give you just enough room to slip the belt under the small pulley that is in the top middle position.

Ive noticed my tensioner pulley kind of jiggles when the engine is on. Does that mean I need a new tensioner pulley? I checked the bolt its on there tight.

So, from your video, it appears one does not need to first slip the belt over the front of the fan, right? I did so, and I'm having problems figuring it out, - maybe that is my mistake? I have a 1999 Chevy Express 1500 van with AC. Wait, do you have an electric fan on yours? Maybe this is why you do not have to route it over the fan blades, first..

Hmmm it's hard to see which direction you turned to release the belt tension in this video....

bad belt , replace with a good quality belt.
@MythicDreamZ8 жыл бұрын
+david crowder if there are no cracks and the belt still looks good you can hold a bar of soap on it until it lubricates the belt.
