Streetwear, hip hop, and celebrity life have introduced us to a world of designer logo clothing. Let's take it easy here - here are 5 reasons why I think you should pass on designer logos on your clothing and accessories.

Most high end designers will always produce logo heavy clothes to help fund their higher end ranges, and allow them to fund more artistic projects, among many other reasons. People who consume these products are getting what they wanted, a false sense of wealth, financial security, an inflated personal brand image etc. The beauty of wearing more lowkey designer pieces is its only really noticed by those who in some ways 'deserve' to know what you are wearing, and it personally has opened so many more interesting conversations and impressions, along with the other things you mentioned. Most ironic part of it all is usually the logo heavy clothing isn't even that great quality, compared to the lesser flashy pieces from the designer, profit margins are huge on these logo pieces, and they have very little 'couture' work into them. I say this as someone who used to be quite logo heavy but realised my mistakes hahaha. Great video as always Mark.

I couldn't agree more. This is spot on. I am not a big fan of big logo or monogram clothing. I will be wearing designer but you wouldn't even know about it. My personal taste, big logo and the monograms makes the clothing cheap. It looks tacky and juvenile. I love basic, classic and clothing that stand the test of time. I am not huge fan of seasonal pieces either. In this season forgotten the next. I don't even like buying bags that are "cult favourites" or popular no matter what brand or the basic bags. I like to collect bags that are one-off pieces. Nowadays every man and their dog is rocking LV or Gucci and etc whether it be real or fake. It's such a huge turn off....I have a lot of classics and the releases right now from any high-end fashion houses is not my cup of tea so I haven't bought anything in over 6 months. Very fortunate to never ever buy anything on credit. If I can't afford it, I simply don't buy it. If I own a 17K bag, I better have double of that amount in my bank account. My bank account have to be more than my bag otherwise I am just pretending to be well to do. I know many people both men and women who will be rocking to events/lunch/dinner or whatever the occasion maybe that is screaming "look at me and my designer clothing" then have to borrow money for drinks 😅

Very well said. I used to buy designer bags but later got a change of heart. I feel uncomfortable wearing it most times as I feel i have to put more effort in dressing up even if im in the mood to just wear anything. Also i can feel eyes on me and the bag. I also feel ackward going to places which are simple but wearing such a high end bag. Also i miss just having a bag which is incognito, and something i dont have to baby so much. Also when i had a baby (daughter) which seems like a perfect opportunity to pass my bags on however i have a nagging feeling that i dont want her to have that appreciation for luxury. It feels superficial to me now. Borne from insecurity or envy. Now i am in the fence if i should sell them or keep them for my daughter. I feel like i might regret it if i sell them. So for now im keeping them for the meanwhile. Anyway great video. I specifically searched for videos which would resonate with how im feeling and your video nailed it.

I advise you to think carefully about how important they are to you, whether your bags make your life easier and better. I know your situation, because I myself was a hostage of self-doubt and spent all the money on designer clothes. Alternatively, I advise you to keep only one bag that is really dear to you, sell the rest (I did this with my sneakers)

Totally agree, I want to wear a piece of clothes because it is great quality and not because it has the logo on it. I can print that logo on a premium t-shirt anytime, i will not pay for it, I will buy something because of the highest standard of craftmanshift. I researched and bought Italian shirts and a Habsburg shirt, and I ran to my familymembers to show them the beautiful stiches of them. :))

@@MarkKwak except here in sweden, we have a lot of people who come from the middle east to run from the war, like 30 percent of my school is like born in syria and countries around there, personally, i dont have a problem nor am i racist, heck even one of my best friends come from syria, but the thing that i find weird is that almost everyone in my school who fleed the war, all wear heavily designer products, like EA7 and hugo boss, and many of them tend to live in poorer areas, i really wonder why they have that need to showoff or maybe prove their worth in some way, its almost depressing knowing wery well they dont have the money for those brands. This might be off topic but when people talk about nordic minimalism or stuff the usually overlook a majority of people.

People use credits to own most of the stuff all the time including groceries, the problem is when they cant pay the bills back lol. But regardless what they wear, their choices, I respect that, people have different tastes. There is no standard of fashion, as long as they are comfortable, that is their life.
@maltabrown9170
@maltabrown9170 2 жыл бұрын
@Han X . People use their credit card to purchase groceries all the time and also almost every item. Not because they do not have the cash to pay, but because they do not wish to carry large amount of cash on hand to attract the wrong attention and also the points/money back pecks they receive from using it. You Cannot assume or judge someone for not having the cash to pay for their purchases just because they are using credit card to purchase groceries or luxury items.

My problem with it is these designers don’t get rich by selling clothes to rich people, they sell it to poor people trying to look rich. The CEO is LV is worth 200+ billion. He never has to work again, neither does his wife, his children, grandchildren, etc…meanwhile the people who buy this stuff are the same ones who go to the gas station to put $20 of gas in their cars because they don’t have the funds to fill it up. Not only that but they spend zero money on marketing because their customers are essentially walking advertisements for them. Personally I blame social media. Everyone wants to look rich and pretend like they’re having the time of their life wearing designer clothing and taking vacations, driving their leased cars, and yet credit card debt is at record levels and the number of people missing car payments is skyrocketing. It’s quite tragic.

Don't mind wearing branded clothing with logo whatsoever more after the quality of the material and value in price is it worth it paying this amount more for it than cheaper alternative, personally think it has to do with why are people the branded clothing in first place ( mentality wise). Puma although not a overtly expensive brand like Gucci,Luis,Prada etc.. like the brand it's affordable it's relevantly cheaper compared to competitors Adidas and Nike. Only branded clothing I own is from Puma but it more of a treat for myself once in a while still like buying non branded clothing too. Shoes however I will not skimp on because the non-branded shoes we get here you buy them and three weeks later your shoes will start talking. P.S these companies in general will sell a product that cost them $9 bucks to make and sell it to you 1000% of the markup to make it $200 a pair by adding some logo.

I feel like brands like this make some good or luxury items, but once they create a name they can really just get away with making garbage, price it extremely high, make money off it, and then call it fashion. (Louis vuitton airplane bag, balenciaga trash shoes. Adidas 120$ SOCKS, supreme anything really) and people don’t buy their products for fashion, they buy it for where it comes from.
