I've not had the MyoAir recovery compression boots for long so this is just a first impression but I did get to put them through their paces at a Spartan triple race weekend...find out if they helped me as much as they seem to help LeBron James and other "above average" athletes 🤣

I like how you addressed the science of it. "There are studies out there, but that's not my expertise, so here's what I did." And then to acknowledge that one weekend isn't enough for a definitive conclusion. Sure does make me want to try them, though.

To test them, maybe just do one leg after your next workout (stuff something down the other one if needed to keep it from over inflating). Then you have a direct comparison (and probably an odd sensation).

Mark, me and the Mrs. got the earlier version from Myo Master when we saw them at a sport show at the NEC, these need to be plugged in to the mains so not as portable and we think they are great, originally purchased to help with recovery for my first marathon, had a problem with the connector from the boot to the head unit and Myo Master were fantastic in their support. They come out when ever we have a heavy leg session or just feel a bit fatigued, certainly been worth the investment.

I cycle on Zwift and try to loose weight while cycling and watching my calories. But after almost every ride my flexibilty is not good.. any tips? and my hamstring on my right leg burns and is painful if i pull up the bottom of my leg to do my shoes out..

These reminds me of lymphatic system therapy thats regularly used in hospitals. Changing pressure from toes to torso helps patients from considerable swellings. Its like an automatic lymphatic system massage which is usually done by special-trained nurses. I think if anobody wants to buy these, just book an appoitment and try them in hospital/health care facility. Dont know the research behind using this for recovery but I can imagine it could work. Recovery is as important as training! :)

The real answer to how Mark can recover so quickly with such a high training load - he is on testosterone as he has freely posted about. What people commonly misunderstand about testosterone is they think it is a performance enhancer. It’s not (directly) - it’s a recovery enhancer. There is a good reason that testosterone therapy is banned in competition in almost every sport - you can recover more quickly, meaning you can simply train more than natural athletes. It really is that simple. Please not this isn’t a criticism of Mark, if he doesn’t compete in tested events at competitive level then he’s free to take anything - testosterone, EPO, anything he likes. It’s just that the science is very very clear on the recovery benefits from testosterone and other steroid cycles.
@MarkLewisfitness
@MarkLewisfitness 2 жыл бұрын
Although the comparison I make here is between me using these and not using these. I have competed in many events, on TRT, and still have to deal with DOMS the same as anyone……with the boots, it’s improved.
@XX-is7ps
@XX-is7ps 2 жыл бұрын
@@MarkLewisfitness I think I’m more responding to the actual question submitted by your viewer regarding how you can tolerate your training load without overtraining. While I’m sure the boots help with DOMS, the fact is that a natural athlete simple cannot tolerate the training load of an enhanced athlete that uses exogenous steroids and hope to recover. I.e on an intra-athlete level, the boots can help you. But on an inter-athlete level, the boots are not going to help a natural athlete tolerate your training load. As I say please don’t take this as a criticism or attack - I love your channel and praise your honesty about use of testoerone therapy - I think you might honestly be unaware of the advantages it gives you in terms of recovery and therefore increased training load. Since you’re not competing at a level where exogenous steroids are banned and tested for, all this is doing is let you do what you enjoy, more often, so I have no problem with it whatsoever. I think maybe you honestly don’t appreciate the increase in recovery and training load that it affords you though 🙂
@MarkLewisfitness
@MarkLewisfitness 2 жыл бұрын
@@XX-is7ps I do, I trained a long time without! And there are still pb’s I set during that period that I can’t hit now. My recovery is enhanced but part of doing multiple sports is to keep the content relevant to all by effectively handicapping myself 😂. A natural me, focused on running (for example) would be a better runner than an enhanced me who does all the other sports alongside. Basically, TRT (at the level are use) is insufficient to make up for the compromise of doing multiple sports. And they are also sports that I am not physically built for. As such, hopefully, the only person looking at me and thinking “I can’t do that” is somebody that is also old and huge and wants to do a stupid number of activities they are not physically suited to…….. and is not enhanced. That guy, has problems if he does what I do 😁. My point being, somebody who (for example) is into indoor cycling can regard my recovery From multiple sports as something they cannot, naturally, compete with them but they can’t regard my cycling as something they can’t compete with because my enhanced cycling is held back by my training.
@senorcharrleh5146
@senorcharrleh5146 2 жыл бұрын
@@XX-is7ps There is a big difference between Testosterone replacement therapy and a Steroid User/Abuser i say this as you are making it sound as if he is abusing which is not the case. TRT uses smaller doses with the aim of bringing your hormone levels into normal, healthy ranges. This generally means using the smallest dose needed to help increase testosterone levels in your bloodstream which then slowly begins to reverse the symptoms of low T. By contrast, steroid users/abusers generally use much higher doses which increases testosterone and other hormone levels beyond the natural limit . If you’re doing TRT correctly, you shouldn’t have crazy weight gain, massive increases in power, or superhuman endurance, whereas the latter would give an advantage and increased recovery. The guy has a health issue hence why he is on TRT, it's not as if he has gone out of his way to cheat/dope.
@XX-is7ps
@XX-is7ps 2 жыл бұрын
@@senorcharrleh5146 sorry I don’t have the energy to engage with you in details but I’ll respectfully disagree with most of what you wrote. I already said that “cheating” isn’t an issue since Mark doesn’t compete in tested/sanctioned events. However exogenous testorone in *any* form and quantity by definition would be classified as doping in a sanctioned event/series and is banned in such events, which should tell you everything you need to know. It is doping by definition, it is only not “cheating” because Mark doesn’t compete in events that have rules against doping.

@@ritjobbie it’s odd. It doesn’t feel as hot as regular sauna because the air is not particularly warm (although all decent brands have regular heaters within them too so the air is certainly hotter than room temperature! And in the summer, going into ours is baking hot). I just find I can spend longer in mine than a regular sauna but it still gets pretty brutal after 20+ minutes and I have often been on my hands and knees towards the end of the session try to find some cooler air 😂. Also depends if you have one inside or outside - ours is in the garden so it’s more affected by ambient temperature. If you had one inside the house, and it was a decent brand, I can assure you it will be plenty hot enough!

Brilliant vid with loads of good technical detail on recovery…great stuff…compression boots look really good..big advantage they are portable as well…have to say though on recovery generally just unreal how good saunas are….have recently had a traditional style sauna installed with the water 💦 on coals etc and my recovery from the long runs and the intervals had just been orders of magnitude improved….It really is incredible how well they work.,.especially if you bang a good electrolyte drink during the sauna sessions..,
@MarkLewisfitness
@MarkLewisfitness 2 жыл бұрын
agree 100% - however, what I also do (since reading up on it) is at least one of my sauna sessions a week will be done with no hydration. The theory is that blood dropping water content works the cardio system harder and turns the session into a low intensity cardio workout. I will often do that after a run or ride when I am already exhausted and it adds a pretty brutal 30 mins on the end with good cardio work being done but no actual musculature exertion. Can feel grim towards the end of 30 mins though!!!!

BUT, where things go bad is when you find out it is easy to slide them on when they not inflated but once inflated you can't bend your arms which leads to an awkward inability to turn it off or unzip. But... if this does happen... the best solution is to put the arms between your legs, clamp down during a disinfation phase and pull and reppeat until successful. ... so I've been told.

Hey Mark have you considered using the Whoop device? There seems to be plenty of high performance athletes as well as 'above average peeps' using them to gauge recovery. I must admit your devotion, and disciplined approach may make my question moot.

I had the Corvid booster last week and I’ve haven’t felt this poorly in a long time. My fatigue levels are out the roof. I hope I don’t live to regret it.

I developed an increased heart rate after mine, which has dramatically affected my performance. Myocarditis apparently, inflammation of the heart. I utterly regret taking that experimental filth, due to social pressures. Good luck with your recovery (Ironic from a vaccine), I hope you feel better soon and don't regret it long term too.

So you saw their commercial on Instagram (the pro atheletes) and now you are the commercial :) nothing personal, but damn I despise the way sponsored content corrupt social media, as soon as content creators start showing sponsored stuff, it seems like it is not for entertainment or for their own joy they make the content. No, now they are just “influencers” making commercials disguised as content. Which Seem to be more effective marketing strategy than oldschool flow tv spots. But it just makes the content worse imo. Just like too much product placement in movie makes it feel like you just payed to watch a 2 hour Mercedes/Pepsi/Nike commercial. Maybe I just need to go read books as entertainment instead lol.

It's a tough one - KZbin makes me zero profit. In fact it runs at a HUGE loss. Many thousands of pounds worth of loss. And when you factor in the time I spend away from my real job o do this (4 + days a week at least) it cost me tens of thousands of pounds in lost earnings. But that's cool because I enjoy it, it's a hobby of mine. If others like it too.....thats a bonus. So when someone comes along and says "hey, have this cool thing for nothing and no obligation" for me to say no because it's corrupting the very fabric of social media would be bonkers. So I take it......I could of course just take a day of KZbin and a days earnings back at work would by that thing many times over, but hey....it's cool to get free stuff! So my viewers are stuck, if they want to send me some cash once a month I can promise to not take any freebies 🤣 but while I do this at cost to me and for free to viewers, I'll take what I'm given and enjoy it 😎 And you should watch my video on Atomic Habits....it's a great book if you fancy one to start with😁

@@MarkLewisfitness I totally understand the reasoning behind sponsored content. From a consumer/follower standpoint it just sucks. As the feeling goes from "oh this random guy is making great content and seems passionate about it" to "did I just watch a 15minute commercial praying on parasocial relationsship between creator and consumer?" Was following OG strength and powerlifting youtuber, Mark Bell up untill he made the "Sling shot" he made great content but suddenly it just felt like every video was a commercial.. like when my brother got into some mml/pyramid scheme, and every contact from him went from "oh how nice he invited us over" into "Jesus Christ this is a salespitch". Again cannot stress how much I understand it from a youtubers perspective, just be sure to keep Up on the laws about marketing, I know some people get in trouble for not making it clear when its a sponsored plug. Anyway have a good sunday.

@@yotube9797 I hear you - which is why anything I accept has to be something I'd buy myself. For example, I bought my own Wahoo bike and reviewed it - people like that. Wahoo have since given me extras with no obligation.....it would be odd (and not helpful to my subs) to NOT review those.....people are as interested as they would be had I bought it myself. If I suddenly start talking about home security or laptops I see the issue though 😂 It is like going to your brothers for dinner and he has a new car that you like....but when you ask about it he says "I cant discuss that, I got given it for free.....but let me tell you about this great investment opportunity" 😁
