Marklin Digital, A 3 rail model railway. Quite uncommon in the UK?

Thanks Matt that is interesting. I started a Märklin layout in 2005 because of my experience with buying old Hornby Dublo of which I was very impressed. As you say the M mechanisms are also outstanding quality. I found all the M stuff, engines, rolling stock, accessories and C type track work as in your setup made it so easy and a joy to build a layout and get it running. Everything is designed to be compatible. All of stuff is digital with the modern controllers relying more on touch colour screens instead of buttons. Starter sets complete with controller are easily found, probably at that Inline Models shop near Blackpool.

Hi Kimball, I thought you might message about the Marklin! I was reading one of the many books that came with the layout the other night and its all looks very interesting so much more than what I am used to, really looking forward to getting stuck in! Matt

The current Marklin Digital set up is far simpler to use than this 1st Generation Digital control.

Sadly I don't think I will get to experience the newer set up, took me a while to follow the first generation but got there in the end. Anyway many thanks for watching and taking the time to message.

Someone has taken a lot of time with all that wiring Matt. Have you got an electrician friend who can wotk out the control box? Hai from H&HExpress Model N scale Trains does something similar for automatically testing where the trains are on the track so he can run multiple trains on what is essentially a DC layout. Yes, i am hesitating to rewire, so much time spent to get to here, and a waist not to use. I have a few avenues with the control box, but the first question is what is it intended to do. As you say its something like automatically tracking the trains. but could be linked into a computer for graphics or similar. - Still going to be FUN.
