Once more thank you for all your support. When I commented one of your videos, I did not saw that you were a store from Marklin, not Marklin itself, but this is what Marklin should do! Believe me that I learn more from your videos, than the answers I have from Marklin itself. Thank you, and please go on making videos like this.

Hallo.. I have a question: my layout will need 15x M84. My problem occurs when I connected more than 5x M84. All M84 switch on/off bythemselve when a loco is running on the track. Fyi I am using DCC in CV Configuration and set up the 8addresses. Any idea why? Thank you

How are these M84's connected? All separately to the digital power, or in series, or through a 60822?

Hello, Thank you for this video. Please, what happens if there is incoming link signal related to one switch at the same time? E.g. inputs 1 and 2 switched on simultaneously..

They would both be activated. If it would be an odd situation where one output wants to set a turnout to *straight*, and the other output would want to set the same turnout to *curved*, the one who gives up the earliest will loose.

Will you show this decoder connected to Märklin Loco-transfer 72941?

Hi and thanks for your great videos! Do you know if the M84 connected with a switched pack power box should be connected to the tracks as well? How could it be connected to the CS otherwise :/
@ajckids
@ajckids 3 жыл бұрын
The M-84 will need the digital signal. So it does need to be connected to your digital controller (CS). You can connect it directly to the track output of the CS. You can also connect it to the track. The input on the bottom right of the M84, marked with the brown and red dot, is where you connect the two wires. I try to show this at the 4:44 minute mark in the video. Thank you Markus and have fun! with a Howdy from Texas to you.

@@ajckids thanks a lot for your answer! Now I don't have to worry that I might short circuit anything

Can it be used for Block Switching?
@ajckids
@ajckids 3 жыл бұрын
I think you can use it as block switching in two ways: By sending occupation signals through a S-88 feedback module to the Central Station, and programming the CS3 what it needs to do, or more simplified by letting the occupancy detectors control the M-84 directly by wiring their input pulses to the ports 1-8 on top.

Great ! Very helpful thank you ! It's possible config with only mobile station Marklin ? It"s possible to dim LEDs with M83 or it's only possible with M84 ?
@ajckids

Yes, you can configure the M84 with a Mobile Station as well. With advanced steps (this requires CV value programming) the M83 offers many light functions including dimming.

Very helpful, thanks! Do you know if you can use the M84 to use uncoupling tracks?
@ajckids
@ajckids 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Panzerkeks 85! Thank you for the great question! For uncoupling tracks, and other solenoid (electromagnet) items that need to only be actuated for a second (fraction of a second), you should use the Marklin M-83 decoder, like the 60832. You could compare the M-84 in its most basic form as a set of 4 light switches in your house (all on/off switches). You could compare the M-83 in its most basic form as a set of 4 doorbell switches in your house (only on when pushed). The most common solenoid items are your turnout motors, uncouplers, and older (analog) semaphore signals. Happy modelling! Ajckids

@@ajckids Do you have a video about setting up an M83? I can't get my CS3 to recognise it or how to set up uncoupling tracks. I guess it's the same as M84. Marklin have instructions how to do this but it's in German only (streaming.maerklin.de/public-media/MM/02-2018/Fo_4_CS3_praktisch_einsetzen_MM_2018_02.pdf). English speaking markets of no interest presumably. I can't make head nor tail of it.

Thanx, trying to read up on märklin digital before buying it, this is the first time someone has explained the difference! The video was very informative too! I'll watch the rest now.

Yes, the registration is the same with the CS3, so it should recognize it. Start over with setting a simple address (1?) to the decoder and see if you can get it to respond.
