Hi Mark, Can you recomend one of your videos or explain how to add text to the 3D book that's within Aspire 10.5. Text to follow the curves of the centre pages of the book. Thanks.

Hi,😏 Mark thank you so much for adding a metric measure to your samples. We "metric heads" don't need the calculator next or computers anymore.

FRIKIN' Awesome! - Thanks!! I blew both feet off last night after about 4 hours and I could NOT understand why!! Now, I get it!! I committed: Rookie Mistake: 4675 - NEVER reorder items in the component tree unless THAT's what is intended!! (Yes, I took backups along the road, so it wasn't too hard to reattach the toes...Been writing code long enough to know backups will make ya famous!)

I purchased an STL with an odd border around the carve, is there a simple way to make the surrounding material be carved out to be the same depth as the border of the STL?
@driftergw3 жыл бұрын
Excellent, as usual, Mark. One question. If you did not clip the horses, but still had the roughing and finishing paths usethe circle vector as the limit, the end result would look the same, would it not? The parts of the horses outside the circle vector would not be carved.
@MarkLindsayCNC3 жыл бұрын
For this demonstration, and with the right amount of tweaking, probably. But remember - this is just a demonstration of the basics. In the next Level Clipping video, I'll make things a little bit more interesting...

@@MarkLindsayCNC Thanks much, Mark. My question was not intended as a criticism. I apologize if it can across that way. I don't have the newest version of VCP or Aspire. Clipping is not a feature of my version. So I need to try to find other ways to follow along and create your projects. It simply occurred to me that I could follow your procedure and only carve only what I wanted carved. I know that, even in my version, I can destructively eliminate the part of the horse outside the circle vector, as you mention early on in the video.
@MarkLindsayCNC3 жыл бұрын
Constructive criticism is fine, Grant, but I didn't think you were being critical at all. You had a valid question, and I invite that - it keeps me on my toes, and is a good way for me to double-check myself. There's a lot of bad info online, and I don't want to add to it. Never worry about asking a question - I often forget to explain my reasoning behind a decision, suggestion, or method of doing something.

Question for today’s live Q & A session: at time near 19:00 when you were in the Machining Limit Boundary, you chose “selected” vectors”. Maybe I am confused on this section but could you also choose “Model Boundary” ...when do you know when to choose the 4 different selections in the Machining Limit Boundary Section. Thanks again and see you this afternoon.
@MarkLindsayCNC3 жыл бұрын
Excellent question! I'll answer it for sure in Live Q&A #80 later today, and demonstrate the difference between the two. Link to Live Q&A #80: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoGZYZ9un5eKmtU

Does the trial version of V-Carve Pro not come with any clip art files? If I purchased vcarve desktop, would that allow me to do the things you describe?
@MarkLindsayCNC3 жыл бұрын
The short answers are; I'm not certain, and yes. The long answers are; I believe you have to create a V & Co account, then go download the clipart files through that account, but I may be mistaken. It's been a long time since I've used a trial version, and a lot of things have changed since then. You might email Vectric Support and ask them. As for VCarve Desktop being able to do all the things I demonstrated in this video, it sure will. The main differences between VCarve Desktop and VCarve Pro are the size limitation and gadget support. There are a few other differences, but none of them have anything to do with Level Clipping or 3D Carving.

I am using VCarve Desktop 10.514, I do not have all the modeling tools that you have. Is that because you are using Aspire?
@MarkLindsayCNC3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. Although they can import and carve 3D models, VCarve Desktop and Pro are not 3D modeling programs. Aspire is Vectric's 3D modeling program.

@@MarkLindsayCNC Thankyou for the answer. I did get my horse SVG file imported and I resized it using the resize tool in the drawing tools to make it work. Now I'm on to the next lesson. Thanks for the help!

Hi there is no clipping option in my vectric aspire version...is this only in newer versions?
@MarkLindsayCNC Жыл бұрын
Level Clipping was introduced in Version 10.0. If you're using a version older than that, I would highly recommend upgrading to the current version. You're really missing out on a lot of new functions and toolpath options.
@lscout022 жыл бұрын
I am attempting to do use this technique, but am not seeing the option to clip when right clicking. I am using Aspire 9.5. Is there another way to do this?
@MarkLindsayCNC2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but Level Clipping was introduced in Version 10.0 I would encourage you to upgrade to the latest version. There are a lot of options and new tools in Version 11.0 that I'm sure you'll love.
