Hey Mark, this stuff happens in the UK too. I had a BMW Z4. J4 UKP. Private plate. In 2010, I let a "mate" look after it while I went on holiday. I came back to find the car gone. He said he left it with a mate in Hull with a garage. This proved to be a lie. Unfortunately, I left the V5 in the glove box. I reported the car stolen, but the police and DVLA said the car had a new owner and it was all legal. Nothing I could do. I went to 3 different police stations and to BMW who sold it, they all said nothing they can do. Tried to trace the cars whereabouts, but failed. They obviously forged my signature on the V5 and sold it. I'm out of pocket 10,000. It put me in serious financial trouble and caused stress for both my wife and myself and my parents (who have since died). To this day I think of this. How could it happen in the UK? It was my pride and joy. As luck would have it, I now live in Thailand and have seen examples of much of what you report.

13:25 What's the point in insurance if you can't can't make a claim, without losing cover of the rest of your fleet? UK car insurance constantly surprises me with it's incompetence.
@lemster101Ай бұрын
It's the same in the US. SuperspeedersRob that has a rental company in NY or NJ I believe and talks about it in some of his videos. I don't remember the exact details, but I believe it's that you need insurance as a company, but because of the risk for an exotic car rental company is so high, premiums are really high. To keep those costs somewhat manageable the owners of the rental companies choose to take on a level of risk themselves as a claim would mean the premiums would go up to where it no longer makes sense to run the company. So you can make a claim, but it effectively kills the business so business owners take "smaller" claims on the chin. Basically the same thing people do when they don't go through insurance for small fender benders.

Fascinating story that has probably happened to many of us who have had vehicles stolen but we have not known who to turn to for support. I find that when I come across inactivity on the part of any authority vested with the responsibility to protect me in such circumstances, then I raise an official complaint through their correct channels. This often mobilises the responsible authority to wake up and do something. Their default position is to fob you off and do nothing, hoping that you and your problem will go away. The official Complaints Handling Process, in whichever organisation, is often your best chance to get the light shone on your situation and some transparency given to the authority's inactivity, in whichever jurisdiction.

Mark .. what a story. What a result. Absolutely overjoyed to see this for you and the lads. We are probably around the same age and I can appreciate the stress and hassle ... I've been through a lot with family illness and when things go wrong during that time it can be mind bending and so difficult to handle and process. I'm not even sure I've come away from that unscathed ... but this story .. as daft as it may sound has given me some hope that things work out in the long run!! Your content has just got better and better and aside from anything else you are clearly an absolutely top guy and brilliant family man. Congrats on the result!!

Late 70’s my dad swapped on holiday in Spain his Merc 450 SEL 6.9 with someone he knew who wanted to buy it (my dad was in the car business) and he never came back with the car. 2 years later our neighbor thought he has seen the car in Milan at the airport. My dad went there, got a address outside Milan, went there, the villa had guards with guns, he told them what he came for, they told my dad 2 wait in the village and 2 hours later the keys and the parking ticket was brought. It ended well before it became a real movie

@@MarkMcCann64 its so people click the profile and then click the links on said profile. Most are just there to catch people out most likely running phishing viruses to get personal information. Also it will effect your channel in the long run but you cant really do much about it. The way it affects you is it creates a false sense of engagement and it plays havoc with the algorithm so your videos may get pushed to people that wont watch them or are just spam bot accounts so views can drop off happens a lot on Instagram as well

@speedbird737Ай бұрын
Questions/points: Why did Mo owe you 220k when you have already been paid 25k surely he owed you 195k?. How much were you paid for the month long rental - it's not shown as Rental 11 - my calcs it should have been 31 x 800 = 24.8k less your split with Mo. Insurance would have paid out - either no insurance in place or it had been invalidated. Police can't validate your money in the holdall - it has to go to another agency and takes time. How was the police in Thailand already aware of Mo's colleagues flying over for the car? Why did you buy a tracker that only works in the UK ?
@michalsobanski2388Ай бұрын
For the insurance - if they've paid out, either a massive claim like that would've caused their fleet policy to go up by at least 30% on each car (which would amount to an obscene amount of money long term on 35 cars) or there could've been a clause in the insurance policy that didn't allow the car to be rented out, making theft not being covered by the insurer (I've seen this in a lot of exotic rental places) Not saying this is exactly what happened, but could've happened.
