No shit? She shouldn't take to heart what a couple of drunk girls say? What if it's the exact same crap they spew when *sober?* Did the boyfriend ever stand up for OP when she was attacked? Honestly, if a passenger in my car treated me like that, I wouldn't care about their level of sobriety or if they'd ever said a mean word to me before. I'd pull over first chance I got and order them out. Not a bus stop in sight? Not my problem.
@Original_Tenshi_Chan2 жыл бұрын
@@brigidtheirish Exactly, but I think I would take it a few steps further. I wouldn't even let my soon to be ex into my car until he can sufficiently explain, to my satisfaction, why he thought I should be responsible for driving him and his side piece home from their double date with another couple. The tickets were all bought in advance, from the sound of it, the soon to be ex and his best friend bought those tickets,... So why did soon to be ex choose to take the side piece instead of his GF? They wouldn't need to worry about where I dropped them off, because they likely would never have seen the interior of my car. Or, if I was feeling extra petty and spicy, I would drive for half an hour or so in the wrong direction, away from the city center and assistance for festival goers, into a residential or industrial area for maximum "FUCK YOU!" energy, and then kick out all 3 of them, soon to be ex included. He wants to protect his side piece and her best friend so much, to 'avoid drama', then he can protect them allllllll the way to their homes. Also, OP absolutely should hook up with his best friend, he seems like a slightly more decent guy, and they could perhaps swap leases. (OP gets off the lease at their place, and side piece can move in with her new prize.)
@brigidtheirish2 жыл бұрын
@@Original_Tenshi_Chan Most definitely. It's *possible* the girls bought their own tickets, but it seems unlikely. Now, getting all of them out of the car could be a problem, which is where my general recommendation that women carry mace comes into play.

I am 67 yrs old and have had a lot of experience with a MIL like the one in story 3. If a boyfriend always takes the side of the mother, run and run as fast as you can. Trust me, once you marry him it will get worse. I should have seen the red flags when I was dating my husband and not had so much hope that things would be different once we married. When I dated my husband MIL would say things when boyfriend was not around that would sting to my core. She would make comments about how I was so lucky to have a man to take care of me. It was beside the point that I made more than boyfriend and owned my own house and had it almost paid off. I drove a better car than boyfriend, had a savings etc. MIL would always say she was sick when we were checking out at a store and tell me to pay for things and she would pay me back later. Neither MIL or boyfriend ever paid me back. I nipped the action in the bud when I finally said she could put the items back because I wasn't paying for them. The snide remarks continued after we were married except she got worse. She would tell family that their presents were only from hubby even tho I did the shopping and purchasing of the gifts. She never thanked me or acknowledged any gift as being from me. When I would try to talk to hubby about things he always said the same thing " I don't know why you create issues with my mother. DO NOT PUT UP WITH CRAP FROM A MIL AND IF HUSBAND DOES NOT HAVE YOUR BACK, RUN FAR AWAY FROM BOTH OF THEM.

HMMMMMM. My recollection of being drunk, you tell the truth. At the time, her boyfriend stuck up for her, wether it was because he just wanted to get home or not, they didn't know that. NTA. I have kicked people out of my car for less.

Story 1: Dump the bf. It sounds like he is cheating on OP! Let the other girl have him and tell her, she can have the back stabbing cheater and hope he does not cheat on her. lol Story 2 was so wholesome. I love it. I absolutely love it. Story 3: I just read it on reddit lol

Story 3: op needs to tell her fiancé: FMIL needs thicker skin; this is the way op is; she doesn’t mean to be malicious.

Watching this as a “rerun” lol and damn “what if your bf’s friend got shot at the bus stop? Sorry for what’s happening in the US, but we’re in Poland” as an american, that still makes me laugh so hard yet simultaneously…. ouch 💀

1. NTA, AND TO HELL WITH THE BF! Why is he with that girl that wants to hook up with him anyway? Being drunk is no excuse for being rude

Drunk bf seems more reasonable than sober bf in the first story-

Op 'ruined the party', yet it went on until nearly midnight? Wanna bet the whole thing turned into a 'trash OP' party once she left and they had so much fun with it that no one wanted to leave?

Story 1: Guys saying they "don't want drama" is such a huuuuge trigger for me. My Ex used to say this. Later I found out that by drama he meant that he didn't want to talk about it because he was already looking for a new girlfriend and didn't have the courage to break up like a normal human.... darn. So I guess I'm a little biased but at the same time.... giiiirrrlll I hope you get out of this apartment soon. Edit: Also. People forget that alcohol just "opens you up" (sorry, english is not my first language and I don't know how to say this otherwise). So these girls weren't just stupid drunk girls, they just said exactly what they thought about op the whole time.... gosh I'm still angry at the boyfriend.
"From the mouth of babes and drunkards", "a drunk mind speaks a sober heart", "in vino veritas"... You get the picture. OP is NTA.

3rd OP should take more than a cake out of this relationship. This man is about to be your husband, a spouse doesn't tell their partner to 'have a thick skin' they are meant to defend and support you. I know my MIL wasn't a fan of all my tattoo's when we met, but she never said a word because she knows she raised her son right and he wouldn't stand for it.

" That's just the way they are" means they are entitled bullies who insult anyone they deem less than and we let them get away with being a fucking nightmare.

Story 1: Hell, I don't think I would have driven them. Like legit, the car wouldn't have even left the parking lot of the festival. Bitches don't get rides. If I am coming to pick up my boyfriend and his friend, then that's all I'm picking up.

why do people always take the side of the assholes and justify them "oh, that's how they are" "you are being dramatic" "but it's faaamily!" and all kinds of justifications??. why is it always the victims that have to suck it up and the inconsiderate people, jerks or even abusers get defended and people on their side?!!! it's infuriating!!.
